Located in Baoxiu Town (宝秀镇), Shiping County (石屏县), Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (红河哈尼族彝族自治州), Yunnan Province, Baoxiu Earth Forest is a prime example of tectonic erosion landform scenery.

? Formation Mechanism

The earthen pillars vary in shape and size, with distinct stratification and vibrant hues of yellow, ochre, and gray—tracing millions of years of geological evolution. The erosion process is still ongoing, continuously forming new landforms, making this a dynamic and ever-changing landscape.

Together with the Yuanmou Earth Forest (元谋土林) and the Colorful Sand Forest of Luliang (陆良彩色沙林), Baoxiu Earth Forest ranks among Yunnan’s top three native geological wonders. ? How to Get There	Navigate to “Baoxiu Earth Forest, Shiping County (石屏县宝秀土林)” by self-drive, or take a rural bus from Shiping County—about 1 hour by road.
?️ Recommended Side Trip	On the return journey, visit Shiping Ancient Town (石屏古城), famous for its Ming–Qing architecture and traditional tofu-making heritage (UNESCO-recognized). The town is about 40 minutes away by car.

The earth pillars are fragile and must not be climbed or stepped on. Please stay on the designated boardwalks for your safety and conservation of the site.
Landslides are more likely during the rainy season (June–September). Always check weather advisories before your trip.
