Huangcaoba Village (黄草坝村) is located in Chunhe Subdistrict (春和街道), Hongta District (红塔区), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It lies in the northwest of Hongta District, about 20 kilometers from the central urban area. The village covers a land area of 104 square kilometers and sits at an altitude of 1,900 meters. With an annual average temperature of 13.4°C and a forest coverage rate as high as 91.4%, it is considered a natural oxygen bar.

History and Culture

Huangcaoba Village (黄草坝村) has a long history. In September 1952, the People's Government of Huangcaoba Township was established. It was renamed as the Huangcaoba Management Area of Chunhe Commune in 1958, then changed to Huangcaoba Brigade in 1961. After the establishment of the city in 1983, it became the People's Government of Huangcaoba Township in January 1984. In 1988, it was renamed the Huangcaoba Office of Chunhe Town, and in November 1999, the office was abolished and reorganized into the Huangcaoba Village Committee. In December 2016, it was listed in the fourth batch of China’s Traditional Villages Directory.
