Huize Mosque (会泽清真寺) is located on Zhongping Road (钟屏路) in Huize County (会泽县), Qujing City (曲靖市), Yunnan Province (云南省). With a history spanning over 700 years, it stands as one of the ancient Islamic religious sites in the region.

Historical Evolution

The mosque was originally built in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. Its earliest form was a simple thatched hut, which over time was expanded and developed into a full-scale mosque. Today, it includes a prayer hall, scripture lecture hall, Quran study hall, funeral room, and ablution facilities.

Architectural Style

Huize Mosque (会泽清真寺) displays a rich blend of Islamic and local ethnic architectural features. The main prayer hall is designed in a traditional Arab style, with elaborately carved arched domes on the roof and beautifully inlaid Arabic inscriptions on stone tablets embedded in the walls. In contrast, the scripture lecture and Quran study halls adopt traditional Chinese palace-style architecture, reflecting the cultural fusion of Islamic and Chinese traditions.

More than just a place of worship, Huize Mosque (会泽清真寺) plays a central role in the religious and social lives of local Muslims. It serves as a space for daily prayers, religious study, and a variety of community religious activities. Additionally, the mosque is a vital symbol of ethnic unity and religious harmony in the region, contributing actively to mutual understanding, respect, and coexistence among different ethnic groups.
