Jinxiuyuan (锦绣园) is one of the core attractions in the Dongchuan Red Land Scenic Area (东川红土地景区), located in Dongchuan District (东川区) of Kunming (昆明), Yunnan Province. Known for its stunning terraced fields and unique land art, Jinxiuyuan is often referred to as "a masterpiece of earth embroidery." The vibrant colors of the fields, including shades of red, yellow, blue, and green, make this location one of the most picturesque spots in the region.
When you approach Jinxiuyuan, you are greeted with a spectacular view of multicolored fields, creating an illusion of a sea of flowers and a colorful world. From the mountain's top, the landscape unfolds before your eyes, with visible lines created by the edges of fields, distinctive colorful patches of land, and a dramatic sky filled with clusters of white clouds. Depending on the time of day, the view changes, providing a unique experience even within a single day.
Jinxiuyuan's stunning terraced landscape is based on the rich red soil of the Dongchuan Plateau (东川高原). Through crop rotation, fields of purple, green, and gold form a beautiful pattern that resembles embroidered silk. The lines of the fields are soft and flowing, creating a visual symphony that changes with the seasons.
May to June: The wheat fields roll like waves, offering a golden hue.
September to December: Buckwheat flowers and potato blossoms intertwine, creating a striking contrast.
After rain, the colors become even more vivid, providing an excellent opportunity for photography.
