Laoniuchang Cemetery of Martyrs in Fuyuan County, Qujing

Overview

The Laoniuchang Cemetery of Martyrs (老牛场烈士陵园) is located in Xiaosong Mountain (小松山), Laoniuchang Village Committee (老牛场村委会), and Haosuo Town (后所镇), Fuyuan County (富源县), Qujing (曲靖), Yunnan Province (云南省). The cemetery was established on August 1, 2005, by the local party committee and government.

Cemetery Details

Facing south, the cemetery contains a total of six graves. Among them, one is dedicated to a Red Army soldier (红军战士), four honor soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the early liberation period while fighting against bandits, and one commemorates a heroic youth who gave his life to save others.

Notable Martyrs

1. Unnamed Red Army Soldier: Approximately 16 or 17 years old at the time of death, this young soldier was killed by bandits in Laoniuchang on March 28-29, 1936, after losing contact with his unit during the Long March of the Red Second Front (红二方面军长征).
2. Qiu Xiaosi (邱小四): Born in 1933 in Tuchang, Xuanwei (宣威兔场), he joined the Xuanwei Tuchang Workers' Team in May 1949. He sacrificed his life on July 14, 1949, during the battle at Xiaojia Mountain (肖家山) in Laoniuchang.
3. Fei Qingdao (费清道): Born on April 16, 1930, in Feijiachong, Rongcheng, Xuanwei (宣威榕城费家冲), he joined the Communist Party of China at Bole Middle School in late 1947. After the "September 5th" uprising, he fought with the 3rd Division of the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi Border Column of the People's Liberation Army (中国人民解放军滇桂黔边纵队). He was killed by bandits on June 6, 1950, at Shama River in Lishuping Village (栗树坪村), while serving as the Deputy Secretary of the Dong District Committee of Zhanyi County (沾益县).
4. Yang Shixuan (杨世选): Born in 1927 in Aiyinuo, Haosuo Town (后所镇阿依诺), he joined the 6th Division of the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi Border Column of the People's Liberation Army in 1949. He was also killed by bandits on June 6, 1950, at Shama River in Lishuping Village.
5. Wang Bu (王卜): Born in 1931 in Huaning, Yunnan (云南华宁), he was a member of the Communist Party and joined the 6th Division of the Yunnan-Guizhou-Guangxi Border Column of the People's Liberation Army in 1949. He too was killed by bandits on June 6, 1950, at Shama River.

On August 1, 2005, the Laoniuchang Cemetery of Martyrs was designated as a patriotism education base by the local party committee and government.
