Huxi County Mosque (沪西县城清真寺) is located in the urban area of Huxi County (沪西县), Yunnan Province (云南省). The exact date of its original construction is unknown, but it was destroyed in the late Republic of China period. It was rebuilt in 1991. The mosque covers an area of 2 mu, with a main hall of 250 square meters, constructed in a modern multi-story style. Its design features include pointed arch-style porticos and a large green dome, creating an imposing and majestic appearance.

Historical Development

The original construction date of the mosque is unclear. It was destroyed in the late Republic of China period. Huxi County (沪西县) is one of the counties approved for international openness by the State Council. It is also home to the famous "Alugu Cave" (阿庐古洞), making tourism a thriving industry that attracts many domestic and international tourists and merchants every year. This influx has greatly contributed to the local economy and international exchanges. Given the number of Muslim visitors, the mosque was reconstructed in 1991 with support from various parties to provide convenient space for religious practice and daily life.

Mosque Size

The mosque occupies 2 mu of land, and the main hall covers an area of 250 square meters.

Architectural Style

The mosque features a modern multi-story architectural style with pointed arch-shaped porticos and a large green dome. It was originally designed as a five-story building, of which two stories have been completed and are currently in use.

Main Features

The first floor houses the main prayer hall, Huxi Arabic School (沪西阿文学校), and a halal restaurant. The second floor includes the living quarters and study rooms for the imam and ahong. The mosque also preserves three Arabic editions of the Qur’an.
