    • Na'an Temple (那庵寺) is located on a mountain about 1 kilometer west of Ayang Village (阿阳村), southwest of Zhuyuan Town (竹元镇), Mile County (弥勒县), Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (红河哈尼族彝族自治州), Yunnan Province. It was first built in the first year of the Shunzhi reign (1644) of the Qing Dynasty and was later renovated.

    Overview

    Na'an Temple covers an area of 1,600 square meters and consists of the main hall, two side halls, and a main gate. The main hall features a single-eaved hip roof, measuring 14.3 meters in width and 10.8 meters in depth, built in the traditional tailiang (抬梁式) beam-frame structure.

    Surrounding the temple are lush trees, flowing streams, and interlaced terraces. To the south, in a mountain hollow, a small waterfall cascades down gracefully. Na'an Temple is regarded as a cool, serene, and elegant historic scenic site in the Zhuyuan area. In 1983, it was designated as a protected cultural relic site of Mile County.

    Geographic and Climatic Background of Honghe Prefecture

    Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture is located in southern Yunnan on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Its terrain includes limestone mountains, plateaus, valleys, basins, and hills, with significant elevation differences and highly complex landforms. The region enjoys abundant rainfall, plentiful sunshine, a small annual temperature range, a humid climate, and multiple monsoon influences, generally falling under the subtropical plateau monsoon climate category.

    The Tropic of Cancer runs through the prefecture, causing temperature and humidity to increase from north to south with decreasing latitude, giving the area a warm and humid character. The rainy season is concentrated from May to October, while frost occurs from late November to January or February. Therefore, when traveling to Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, it is best to avoid the hot and rainy summer and autumn seasons. The ideal visiting periods are March to April and September to November, when sunshine is mild and rainfall is relatively low.
