Location
Qiānjiāzhài is nestled in the Ailao Mountains Nature Reserve of Jiujia Town, Zhenyuan County, Pu'er, Yunnan Province. The core scenic area covers 20 square kilometers and lies approximately 90 kilometers from Zhenyuan County.

Climate & Altitude
Ranging from 2,000 to 3,137 meters above sea level, the area maintains a cool average temperature of 10–12°C year-round. With 85% forest coverage, it is one of the most pristine natural environments in southwest China.

? Natural Wonders

The Ancient Tea King Tree （千年茶王树）

This towering wild tea tree stands at 25.6 meters tall with a trunk diameter of 0.89 meters. Estimated to be 2,700 years old, it was officially recognized by Guinness World Records in 2001 as the “Oldest Wild Tea Tree in the World.”

Surrounding the Tea King Tree is a vast wild tea forest spanning tens of thousands of mu, forming a globally rare ancient tea ecosystem.

Waterfalls & Streams

Dà Diàoshuǐ Waterfall（大吊水瀑布）
A breathtaking three-tiered waterfall with a total drop close to 100 meters and a width ranging from 10 to 20 meters. During the rainy season, its roaring cascade creates rainbow-laced mists and a spectacle reminiscent of a “river from the sky.”

Dūlū River Ecological Corridor（嘟噜河）
This enchanting trail follows a stream through untouched forest, weaving past suspended waterfalls, crystal-clear pools, moss-covered rocks, and lush pathways — a true hidden sanctuary.

?️ Cultural Heritage

Qing Dynasty Uprising Site
Preserved ruins of a stone village gate and ancient house foundations mark the former encampment of Li Wenxue’s peasant army during the 1856 uprising. The name “Qiānjiāzhài” (literally “Village of a Thousand Households”) originates from this historical moment.

Ancient Tea-Horse Road
A surviving covered bridge built in 1825 still stands today — 26.37 meters long, it is a silent witness to the golden era of Pu’er tea trade along the famous Tea-Horse Ancient Road.

⚠️ Visitor Information

Item	Details
Access Requirements	Entry into the core area requires an ecological access permit from the Ailao Mountains Conservation Station. Individual travelers cannot enter directly without approval.
Transportation	Set GPS to “千家寨风景区 (Qiānjiāzhài Scenic Area)”. It takes about 3 hours by car from Zhenyuan County. The final 30 minutes involves a winding gravel mountain road — SUVs or 4WD vehicles are recommended.
Hiking Difficulty	The main hiking trail is 5.6 kilometers one way. A round trip takes 4–6 hours. Bring sufficient water and high-energy snacks.
Best Travel Seasons	May to October: Rainy season with magnificent waterfalls. November to April: Dry season ideal for more comfortable trekking.
