The mosque complex was initially constructed on August 21, 1987. On the same date, it was officially registered with the approval of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Dali Municipal Committee. The mosque is situated on the western shore of Erhai Lake (洱海), where Bai (白族) and Hui (回族) communities coexist.
