Shenhe Village Mosque (深河村清真寺) is located in Shenhe Village (深河村), Dacang Township (大仓乡), Weishan County (巍山县), Yunnan Province (云南省). It was originally built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The current mosque occupies approximately 9 mu of land, with a total building area exceeding 2,000 square meters. Historical Development

Shenhe Village Mosque (深河村清真寺) was originally established in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. After the failure of the Du Wenxiu (杜文秀) uprising, the mosque was destroyed in 1872 (11th year of the Tongzhi reign) due to war. In the early years of the Republic of China, worship activities were carried out in a very simple house within the village.

In 1917, through extensive fundraising, a San Zhuan Wu (三转五) style timber-structure prayer hall was built. In 1946, a four-cornered, pointed-roof minaret was added, with a construction area of 520 square meters.

Between 1977 and 1978, the prayer hall was renovated and expanded to a Wu Zhuan Qi (五转七) timber structure. The hall features a double-eaved Xieshan-style (歇山式) roof and covers an area of 806 square meters.

In 1997, the mosque was expanded again with the construction of a new brick-and-tile structure combining three levels (including a basement).

In 2002, Shenhe Village Mosque (深河村清真寺) was officially recognized as a model mosque at the prefectural level.

Architecture and Scale

Shenhe Village Mosque occupies approximately 9 mu of land, with a total building area of more than 2,000 square meters. The grand and imposing prayer hall alone covers 2,250 square meters and can accommodate more than 1,000 people for worship simultaneously.

Shenhe Village Mosque (深河村清真寺) is located in Shenhe Village (深河村), Dacang Township (大仓乡), Weishan County (巍山县), Yunnan Province (云南省). Shenhe Village is situated 300 meters east of the Dacang Town government offices, on the southern bank of the Deep River (深沟河), which gives the village its name.
