Wenshan Mosque in Wenshan City

Wenshan Mosque (文山清真寺) is located in the urban area of Wenshan County (文山县), Yunnan Province (云南省). It was originally built in 1985 and covers an area of 0.7 mu. Inside the mosque, there are inscribed plaques such as "Prosperous Nation and Flourishing Faith" (国兴教盛) and "The True Light Shines on All" (真光普照).
The current mosque director is Ma Guangyun (马光云), and the current imam is Xu Jialu (许家禄).ng to a gradual increase in their population. With governmental support, the Hui community was able to construct the current mosque through congregational financing. Wenshan Mosque in Wenshan City

Historical Background

Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, only a few Hui families from other regions lived in Wenshan County (文山县) for livelihood purposes. A mosque had once been built but was later destroyed. After the founding of New China, the number of Hui people gradually increased as more came to work and settle in Wenshan County and at prefectural-level institutions. In 1985, the Wenshan Prefecture Islamic Association (州伊协) was established. The prefectural government allocated funds to purchase a site for the association and designated part of it for mosque construction, which was funded by local Muslim residents. Architectural Features

The mosque covers an area of 0.7 mu. The main prayer hall is designed in the traditional Chinese classical style, with a building area of 72 square meters. The total built area of the mosque is 280 square meters. Inside the mosque are plaques inscribed with "Prosperous Nation and Flourishing Faith" (国兴教盛) and "The True Light Shines on All" (真光普照).

Community and Cooperation

The mosque currently serves 140 Hui households, totaling 570 people. There are 8 mosque directors (学董), and the current hajj (哈吉) is Xu Jialu (许家禄).
