Why is Xiabawei Village So Special?

Xiabawei Village in Xichou County, Wenshan

Xiabawei typical residential house下坝尾典型居民住宅 is located at Xiabawei village下坝尾村, 5 kilometers from the southern suburd of Xichou County西畴县, covering an area of 4000 square meters. It was the residence of local rich in the Guangxu Period of Qing Dynasty. The residential houses are divided into two houses in the east and west, and the west house西宅 is composed of two quadrangle courtyards. It is the typical residential building of the local rich in Qing dynasty. East house东宅 is 20 meters from west house. East house is composed of single room单间, hallways过厅, drawing room花厅 and wing rooms厢房, and is the typical french style residence in the early Republic of China. The whole residence is generous and rigorous, simple and elegant.

Best Time to Visit

Usually, the best time to visit Wenshan Prefecture is May to September. But you must bring rain gear and coats in case of the changes in the weather.

How to Get There

Departing from Kunming, after about 400-kilometer drive, you will be in Xichou County西畴县.

1. By Long-distance Bus

There are long-distance buses from Kunming to Xichou county directly.

Kunming East Bus Station-Xichou Bus Terminal

Departure Time: 10: 30, 17:50

Price: 150-180 CNY

Distance: About 400 kilometers

Consume Time: 5.5 hours

2. By Train

If you want to take train, you should go to Zhulin Station珠琳站 in Guangnan county first. Then another 1.5 hours is needed from Zhulin Railway Station to Xichou County.
