Xiaodiaoshui Waterfall (小吊水瀑布) lies within the Qianjiazhai Scenic Area (千家寨景区), He Ping Village, Jiu Jia Town, Zhenyuan County, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province. It sits in the core zone of the Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve, at elevations between 2,000–3,000 m.

Getting There – About a 20-minute drive from Jiu Jia Town, on the route to Da Diaoshui Waterfall (大吊水瀑布) and the King of Tea Trees.

? Shape & Scale

Height – Around 50 m drop, 5–15 m wide.
Form – Spreads like a fan down steep rock, with silvery streams cascading into splashes as fine as jade dust.
Source – Fed by Ailao Mountain streams, flowing year-round. The rainy season (May–October) brings surging, powerful flows.

? Ecological Wonders

Sound & Sight – The roar echoes through the valley, while mist rises to form rainbows in the sunlight.
Surroundings – Dense vegetation, wildflowers, and pristine forest create a cool, oxygen-rich “natural air conditioner” in summer.

You can actually drive beneath the waterfall’s water curtain, feeling the rush of water drumming on your car roof — nicknamed “Nature’s Kiss and Blessing”.

? Trail Connection

Behind the water curtain, stone steps climb toward Da Diaoshui Waterfall and the King of Tea Trees, forming the classic trekking loop:
Xiaodiaoshui → Da Diaoshui → Dulu River → King of Tea Trees.

? Linked Attractions

Da Diaoshui Waterfall – About 1 hour’s hike north; a three-tier cascade with a total drop of 100 m, forming a “twin waterfall” spectacle with Xiaodiaoshui.
King of Tea Trees (茶树王) – 5 km further in the forest; a 2,700-year-old wild tea tree, 25.6 m tall, trunk diameter 0.89 m, Guinness World Record holder.
Dulu River (嘟噜河) – A clear mountain stream winding through ancient trees and vines, with emerald pools and small cascades along the hiking route.

Getting There	By car – Navigate to “Jiu Jia Town, Qianjiazhai” from Zhenyuan County (~90 km; winding roads). On foot – Located roadside at the scenic area parking lot; climb steep stone steps behind the falls.
Safety Notes	Slippery rocks — wear anti-slip shoes; bring rain gear. Drive slowly through the water curtain to avoid engine stall.
Suggested Day Trip	Xiaodiaoshui → Da Diaoshui → Dulu River → King of Tea Trees → Qianjiazhai Ruins (Qing Dynasty rebel pass site).

Historic Footprint – Qianjiazhai was a base for Yi ethnic rebels in the Ailao Mountains during the Qing Dynasty. Stone gates and foundations remain.
Ecological Value – This watershed supports one of the world’s rarest ancient wild tea forests, underscoring Pu’er’s status as the “World’s Tea Source”.
