Yangmei Mountain (杨梅山), located in Baishui Town (白水镇), Luxi County (泸西县), Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture (红河哈尼族彝族自治州), is a beautiful landscape that attracts many visitors. Regardless of whether the sky is clear or drizzles fall, people are always eager to climb the mountain and pick Yangmei berries. Each year, after the summer solstice, the heavy Yangmei fruits hang from the treetops on the verdant mountains of Luxi, offering a stunning view and delightful experience.

Nutritional Value and Uses

Yangmei berries are highly nutritious, with a flesh sugar content of 12%-13% and an acidity level of 0.5%-1.1%. They are rich in vitamin C and contain proteins, fats, pectin, and eight beneficial amino acids. Yangmei can be processed into various foods such as syrup canned fruit, jams, candied fruits, juices, dried fruits, and fruit wines. They possess multiple health benefits, including aiding digestion, eliminating dampness, relieving heat, warding off cold, stopping diarrhea, promoting urination, and preventing cholera.

Scenic Beauty and Flora

From February to June each year, a variety of flowers bloom in the Wuzhe Ecological Flower Sea (吾者生态花海) in Luxi, creating a breathtaking scene. Yangmei Mountain is the only original forest area in Luxi County, rich in floral, forest, and water resources, exuding a fresh and vast wilderness charm. The original forest area spans over 60,000 acres, with wildflowers such as white rhododendrons, red rhododendrons, purple rhododendrons, and others competing to bloom, making for a spectacular sight.

Leisure Activities

During the months of June to August, Yangmei Mountain becomes a popular leisure destination for the residents of Luxi City (泸西城). The nearly 100-acre orchard on Yangmei Mountain sees visitors from all directions, picking the dark red fruits while chatting and laughing with friends. During peak harvest season, nearly a thousand people visit the mountain daily, totaling over ten thousand visits in just over a month. It’s a great opportunity to bring family and friends for a fun day of berry picking!
