Yongchang Wetland of Dianchi Scenic Area in Kunming

? Overview: East Dianchi Wetlands (滇池东岸湿地)

Located along Huanhu East Road (环湖东路) between Haidong Wetland (海东湿地) and Wangguan Wetland (王官湿地), this ecological corridor is part of the Dianchi Lakeside Eco-Belt.

? Ecological Role: Serving as a natural buffer for Dianchi Lake (滇池), the wetlands filter incoming water via aquatic plants and provide vital habitats for birds. Together with Haidong and Wangguan wetlands, they form a continuous green corridor.

? Vegetation

Aquatic Plants: Reeds, cattails, and lotus create a “submerged forest,” with peak bloom from June to August.
Trees & Shrubs: Willow and dawn redwood line the shoreline, forming shaded paths; autumn brings fiery red foliage for photography.

? Biodiversity

Birds: White egrets, waterfowl, and occasional red-billed gulls (best viewed from Haigeng Dam 海埂大坝 in winter).
Fish & Insects: Native species like Dianchi golden-line barbel swim in shallow waters; dragonflies and damselflies abound among aquatic plants.

Greenway Cycling: Connects the Dianchi Lakes Greenway (环滇池绿道); shared bikes available (~3 RMB/30 min). Ride from Haidong Wetland through Yongchang to Wangguan Wetland (~5 km) with lake views.
Walking & Birdwatching: Wooden boardwalks with bird hides and interpretive signage, ideal for family eco-tours.
