Yuhu Village (纳西语 “乌鲁肯”), located in Baisha Town, Yulong County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, sits at about 3,200 meters elevation. It is the closest traditional Naxi village to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山), only 15 km from Lijiang Old Town. Known as the “First Village under the Snow Mountain” and a natural “air conditioner” at the mountain’s foot, Yuhu charms visitors with its stone-built houses, snow mountain reflections, ancient tea trees, and rich Lok culture. In summer 2025, daily visitors have already exceeded 1,500.

  1. Bus: Lijiang Old Town “Tourism Shuttle” ¥10 (tickets via WeChat official account)

  2. Self-drive: Navigate to “Yuhu Village Visitor Center.” Outside vehicles park and transfer via shuttle sightseeing bus (¥39 round trip, includes parking → village → Longnu Lake)

  3. Cycling / Hiking: Rent bike in Old Town, cycle 1.5 hours via Snow Mountain Road, or carpool/charter to village entrance and walk in

  At 3,400 m elevation, on clear days, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain perfectly mirrors on the lake surface. The iconic “Lonely Tree” stands by the shore—a favorite photo spot.

• Lok’s Former Residence:
  Home of Joseph Rock (奥地利籍美籍探险家), who lived here 27 years (1922–1949). Displays old photos, manuscripts, plant specimens. Entry ¥10.

• “Jade Pillar Holds Sky” (玉柱擎天):
  Inscriptions from Qing Qianlong era on the lakeside cliff overlook Jade Dragon Lake and surrounding meadows.

• Tea Horse Ancient Trail Horseback Riding:
  Official routes: Full circle around village ¥168/person, short lake ride ¥68/person, children’s “lamb rides” ¥30/30 min.

• Naxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience:
  “Stone Naxi Home Visits” to handcraft Dongba paper, learn Dongba script; finished products make perfect “Lijiang gifts.”

• Snow Mountain Coffee Time:
  Rooftop cafés like Pushi Coffee, Chichu Coffee, and Qizhi Coffee face the snowy peaks. Best time is after 3 PM during the “Sunshine Golden Mountain” hour.
