Historical Background

Founded in the Ming Dynasty:
The history of Yuping Mosque (玉屏清真寺) can be traced back to the Ming Dynasty. It is one of the earliest mosques established in the Kunming (昆明) region.

Multiple Renovations and Reconstructions:
Due to historical changes, the mosque has undergone several renovations and reconstructions. The current structure retains elements of Ming Dynasty architectural style while incorporating modern design features.

Architectural Features

Main Structure:
The main building of the mosque is the prayer hall, which adopts a traditional Xieshan-style roof structure. The roof is covered with green tiles, reflecting the classical Chinese architectural style.

Decorative Style:
The interior of the prayer hall is exquisitely decorated. The walls feature Arabic script of Quranic verses and traditional Islamic patterns, showcasing Islamic artistic characteristics.

Auxiliary Facilities:
The mosque also includes facilities such as a bathing room, lecture hall, and living quarters for the Ahong (阿訇), fulfilling the religious needs of the Muslim community.
