With a 96% forest coverage rate, Zixi Mountain is Yunnan’s largest natural forest park, crowned with a main peak at 2,500 meters above sea level. The air is rich in negative oxygen ions, earning it the name “Emerald of Central Yunnan.”

Ancient Trees:

Millennium ginkgo trees, ten-thousand-year-old vines

The famous “Boy-Faced Camellia”, a 650-year-old tree that blooms both red and white flowers on the same trunk

Wildlife:

136 bird species including green peacocks and silver pheasants

Over 60 mammal species, including the red panda

Xiangshuiqing Waterfall:
A two-tiered cascade plunging into a deep pool, especially mystical in the rainy season with rising mist

Eight Forest Lakes:
Natural lakes like Lian Guang Lake and Zi Guang Lake shimmer like emeralds nestled in the trees

? Buddhist Heritage

Ziding Temple:
A reconstructed Song Dynasty monastery, featuring a mountain gate and Mahavira Hall. It is the best viewpoint for sunrise and sea of clouds

Cliff Carvings:
The “Virtue and Merit Stele of the Dharma Guardian” (护法明公德运碑) offers historical records from the Nanzhao and Dali Kingdom periods

? Blossoms Through the Ages

Camellia Kingdom:
Spanning 1,200 mu (~80 hectares), the camellia garden houses 28 ancient camellia trees, with locals saying “Zixi camellias are the finest in Yunnan”

Sea of Rhododendrons:
A 1,500 mu rhododendron park explodes in color each spring
