Baoshan Administrative Divisions

Baoshan City（保山市） is located in western Yunnan Province and has historically been known as Yongchang, an important hub along the Southern Silk Road and the South Asian Corridor. Covering an area of about 19,637 square kilometers, Baoshan currently governs one municipal district, one county-level city, and three counties, including Longyang District（隆阳区）, Tengchong City（腾冲市）, Shidian County（施甸县）, Longling County（龙陵县）, and Changning County（昌宁县）. The municipal government is located in Longyang District.

Baoshan is characterized by the mountains of the Hengduan Range, including Gaoligong Mountain（高黎贡山）, as well as major rivers such as the Nujiang River, Lancang River, and Longchuan River. The district combines urban historical culture, ethnic villages, mountain ecology, and agricultural tourism. Major tourism resources include Baihualing Ecotourism Area（百花岭生态旅游区）, a world-famous bird-watching destination in Gaoligong Mountain; Lancang River Valley Coffee（潞江坝小粒咖啡） production areas; Qinghuahai National Wetland Park（青华海国家湿地公园）; Banqiao Ancient Town（板桥古镇）; Jinji Ancient Town（金鸡古镇）; and ethnic cultural areas around Mangkuan.

The district is especially suitable for ecological study tours, bird-watching tourism, coffee industry research, and ethnic village experiences.

Tengchong City: The Core Tourism Destination of Baoshan

Tengchong City（腾冲市） is known as the “First Border City of the Extreme West” and is the most internationally recognized tourism area in Baoshan. It is famous for its combination of overseas Chinese history, volcanic landscapes, geothermal resources, and border culture.

The city has two major 5A-level scenic areas: Heshun Ancient Town（和顺古镇） and Rehai Scenic Area（热海景区）. Other important tourism resources include Tengchong Volcanic Geological Park（腾冲火山地质公园）, Beihai Wetland（北海湿地）, Western Yunnan Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall（滇西抗战纪念馆）, Gudong Ginkgo Village（固东银杏村）, Jietou Rural Area（界头乡田园）, and Houqiao Border Area（猴桥镇边境地区）.

Tengchong has rich intangible cultural heritage resources, including shadow puppetry, traditional papermaking, rattan weaving, and overseas Chinese traditions. It is one of the most suitable areas in western Yunnan for international cultural exchange programs, historical research tours, wellness tourism, and ecological education.

Shidian County: Red Culture and Ethnic Village Tourism Destination

Shidian County（施甸县） is located in the southern part of Baoshan and is known for its combination of revolutionary history, ethnic culture, hot springs, and rural landscapes.

The main tourism resources include Yang Shanzhou Memorial Forest（杨善洲林场）, an important red education and ecological study destination; Yao’an Historical Area（姚关历史文化区域）; Shibiao Hot Spring（石瓢温泉）; and ethnic villages in areas inhabited by Yi and Bulang communities.

Longling County: Wartime Heritage, Huanglong Jade, and Wellness Tourism

Longling County（龙陵县） is an important historical area in western Yunnan and was one of the major battlefields during the War of Resistance Against Japan. It is also famous as the origin area of Huanglong jade and known for its Dendrobium industry.

Major tourism resources include Songshan Battle Site（松山战役遗址）, Xiaoheshan Nature Reserve（小黑山自然保护区）, Banglazhang Hot Spring（邦腊掌温泉）, Huanglong jade cultural industries, and Dendrobium health tourism bases.

The county is particularly suitable for historical education, battlefield research, geological culture tours, traditional medicine studies, and hot spring wellness travel.

Changning County: Tea Culture and Mountain Ecology Destination

Changning County（昌宁县） is a famous tea-producing area with a history of more than one thousand years. Its tourism resources focus on tea culture, rural landscapes, wetlands, mountain ecology, and hot spring tourism.

Important attractions include Youdi River Rural Ecological Tourism Area（右甸河田园生态旅游区）, Tiantang Mountain Highland Wetland（天堂山高山湿地）, ancient tea gardens in Mangshui, Kejie hot spring areas, and Jijian hot spring resources.
