Weixi County Transportation

Weixi Lisu Autonomous County is located in the low latitude plateau, which belongs to the subtropical and temperate monsoon plateau mountain climate. Compared with other places, the transportation in Weixi County is not very convenient.

Air

Around 198 km from Weixi County, Diqing Airport is the largest airport in the east Tibetan area. Direct flights to/from several domestic cities are available, including Kunming, Chengdu, Lhasa, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Beijing and Shanghai. Then, you can take a long-distance bus to Weixi County.

Train

At present, there are no railways in Weixi County. The Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway is under construction. After the completion, visitors can take a train to Shangri-La, then take a long-distance bus to Weixi County.

Long-distance Bus

In Weixi County, the long-distance bus can be the common transportation means.  Here are some route lines for your reference:

1. Kunming to Weixi County

About 697 kilometers from Kunming, tourists can take long-distance bus from Kunming West Bus Station to Weixi County, which will pass by Chuxiong and Dali, Lijiang.

2. Lijiang to Weixi County

The long-distance bus from Lijiang to Weixi County will drive 230 kilometers in total. There are only two shifts, which  departs in 7:30 a.m and 8:30 p.m. in Lijiang Passenger Bus Station.

3. Dali to Weixi County

Tourists can take bus in Dali North Bus Station (Yuhua Road, Xiaguan), which need 6-7 hours to drive.

   4. Daocheng - Shangri-La-Weixi County

The bus from Sichuan Daocheng to Shangri-La will drive about 300 kilometers, which has to climb across big or small snow mountain on the way. However, the road may be closed to traffic because of heavy snow in winter. There will be bus everyday in tourist season, lasting for 12 hours. After the arrival at Shangri-La, the tourists can transfer to Weixi County .
