Yubeng Village（雨崩村） is a hidden Tibetan mountain village located in Yunling Township（云岭乡）, Deqin County（德钦县）, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture（迪庆藏族自治州）, surrounded by the sacred peaks of Meili Snow Mountain（梅里雪山）. Due to its isolated location deep in the mountains, the village has long been famous as one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in southwest China. Unlike ordinary villages connected by highways, Yubeng has traditionally been accessible only by hiking trails, although local off-road vehicles now provide a more convenient way for travelers to enter and leave.

Transportation to Yubeng is mainly divided into three stages: reaching Deqin or Feilaisi（飞来寺）, transferring to the entrance villages such as Xidang Village（西当村） or Ninong Village（尼农村）, and finally entering Yubeng by hiking, local off-road vehicles, or horseback riding. Because of the high-altitude environment and mountain terrain, transportation here is part of the travel experience itself rather than just a simple transfer.

Yubeng village is located in the hinterland of Meili Snow Mountain, and its geographical location is remote, so it maintains a good original ecological and natural landscape. Because of the unique topography, there is no highway to Yubeng Village, hiking and riding a horse are main ways to get into and out Yubeng Village. Yubeng transportation is not convenient.

How to Get to Deqin Yubeng Village

Arriving at Deqin County and Feilaisi Area

Most travelers begin their journey from Shangri-La（香格里拉）, which is the main transportation hub for visiting western Yunnan and the Tibetan areas of Diqing. Visitors can arrive at Diqing Shangri-La Airport（迪庆香格里拉机场） by flight or reach Shangri-La Railway Station（香格里拉站） by train, then continue toward Deqin County by road.

The journey from Shangri-La to Deqin usually takes around four to five hours depending on road conditions. Travelers often stay overnight at Feilaisi before entering Yubeng because it provides one of the best viewpoints for sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain and allows visitors to adjust to the plateau altitude.

From Feilaisi to the Yubeng entrance area, travelers usually hire a private car, shared vehicle, or join a small group tour. The drive from Feilaisi to Xidang Village takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. The mountain road offers dramatic views of valleys, forests, and snow-covered peaks along the way.

If you want to go to Yubeng Village, you should arrive at Deqin county first. Then, go the starting point of Yubeng hiking (Xidang Village) from Feilaisi or Deqin Bus Terminal.

Kunming-Deqin County

Departing from Kunming West Bus Station, there is only one sleeping bus to Deqin every day.

Notes: The sleeping bus stops for break every 2-3 hours. From 2:00 to 5:00 in the early morning is the parking break.

Shangri-la-Deqin County

After arriving at Shangri-La, usually tourists should take long-distance bus from Shangri-La to Deqin, then transfer to Xidang village, the starting point of Yubeng hiking.

Notes: It's recommended to buy your ticket the day before if possible. There are also minivans at the long-distance bus station that will leave when they are full at the price of 100 yuan per person (the drivers will shout "Deqin, Deqin!" to passers-by).

Lijiang-Deqin County

After arriving at Lijiang, tourists can take long-distance bus to Deqin. There is only one long-distance bus to Deqin from Lijiang every day.

Deqin County-Feilaisi-Xidang

After arriving at Deqin County, according to the time, if it is already afternoon, you can go to Feilaisi Monastery for one night. There are buses to Feilaisi at Deqin bus terminal, 5 yuan one person. You can also take a taxi. It's very easy to take a taxi to Feilaisi Monastery, lasting for only 20 minutes. You can settle down in a hotel and make further arrangements of your hiking tour next day (to Xidang Hot Spring). Sometimes, the long-distance bus from Shangri-La to Deqin will continue to drive to Feilaisi for an additional 5 yuan. You can ask the driver when you take the long-distance bus. There is no regular bus from Feilaisi to Xidang village. If you want to go to Xidang from Feilailai, you can charter or carpool with other tourists.

Deqin County-Xidang Village

Xidang village is the only way to Yubeng village. The distance between Deqin Bus Terminal and Xidang parking lot is about 43 kilometers. There are regular buses to Xidang Village at Deqin bus terminal every day. You can also charter or carpool, about 150-200 yuan, 1.5 hours driving. The road condition to Xidang village is not very good. Then, you can start your Yubeng hiking tour from Xidang.

Notes: All the prices are for reference, and the specific conditions shall prevail. In addition, when finishing your tour, get out of Yubeng village from Ninong/Xidang, then go to the parking lot. Once again, you can charter or carpool to Shangri-la, Deqin and Feilaisi. If the time is right, you can also take a regular bus to Deqin County.

Transportation from Feilaisi to Xidang Village

Xidang Village（西当村） is the most traditional and commonly used entrance point for Yubeng. It is located near the starting point of the classic Yubeng hiking route.

Private cars and shared vans are the most convenient options from Feilaisi or Deqin County. Many local drivers are familiar with the Yubeng route and can arrange pickup times according to travelers’ hiking schedules. During the peak hiking seasons of spring and autumn, transportation services are more frequent, while winter services may become limited because of snow and road conditions.

Public transportation is relatively limited. There may be local minibuses connecting Deqin with nearby villages, but schedules are not always fixed, making private transfers a more practical choice for international travelers.

Hiking into Yubeng Village

Hiking remains the classic way to enter Yubeng and is considered an essential part of the journey. The traditional route starts from Xidang Village, crosses Nanzong Pass（南宗垭口） at an altitude of about 3,700 meters, and descends into Upper Yubeng Village.
