Travel to Guangnan County from Kunming by bus is popular among tourists. Guangnan County locates in the southeast of Yunnan Province. There are 5 long-distance buses available every day from Kunming to Guangnan County(广南县). Tourists can take the long-distance bus from Kunming East Bus Station (昆明东部客运站) to Guangnan County Bus Station(广南客运站), and the journey will take about 14 hours.

Guangnan to Bamei Village Transportation

Located thirty kilometers away from Guangnan County (广南县) in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture(文山壮族苗族自治州), Yunnan Province, Bamei Village is hard to find because of its unique location. It is surrounded by hills, and visitors have to travel by small boat through a long, dark limestone tunnel.

There are 3 buses available every day from Guangnan County to Bamei. Tourists can take the bus from Guangnan County Bus Station(广南客运站) to Bamei, and the journey will take about 1~2 hours.

Entering Bamei Village – By Boat

Because of the isolated village, boat is the only tool for transferring in Bamei. The villagers will guide you.
Most visitors enter Bamei from the Fali side and those in a hurry leave that way again. But Bamei is not for those in a hurry. We recommend to stay in the village at least overnight and continue the next day through the other two caves to the hamlet at the end and then go back the same way or go around by taking a ride on the back of a motorbike back to Fali village, or organise to be picked up there by your transport.
Every family in Bamei has their own boat and some are used as taxi or bus. It takes about twenty minutes each time to get through each of the three caves. There is no light other than some torches and the caves are very dark. The boatman steer their boats on experience and use the flow of the water as indicator on how to go.
