Dapingzhang Village (大平掌村) is located in Yaonan Village Committee (耀南村委会), Jiasha Town (戛洒镇), Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County (新平彝族傣族自治县), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It lies in a mountainous area, 37 kilometers from the Jiasha Town government office and 2 kilometers from the village committee. The road to the town is an unpaved dirt road. The total area of the village is 1,056 mu (about 70.4 hectares), at an elevation of 1,960 meters. The average annual temperature is 18°C, making it suitable for growing corn and walnuts.

History and Culture

Dapingzhang Village (大平掌村), under the jurisdiction of the Yaonan Village Committee (耀南村委会), is a natural village primarily engaged in agriculture. In recent years, as rural economies continue to grow, the village has begun exploring new development paths such as specialty walnut cultivation and pig farming. Additionally, the village plans to take advantage of the tourism resources of Jiasha Town (戛洒镇) by developing rural homestays and promoting village tourism.

Jiasha Town (戛洒镇) is one of the main settlements of the Huayao Dai (花腰傣) ethnic group, known for their vibrant traditional attire and folk customs. Major cultural festivals such as the “Flower Street Festival (花街节),” “Bathing Festival (沐浴节),” and “Hot Pot Festival (汤锅节)” are held annually in the town, showcasing the rich ethnic traditions of the area.
