‣ About Luolong Park

The park is built in the 383,400 square kilometers,  the water area is about 133,200 square kilometers. It is invested about 1.4 million RMB by local gorvernment. It is the biggest park in Chenggong New Area. The design of the project focuses on water landscape, fully conbines the features of the Luolong River and its water logged zone. Other important parts of this park are man-made hills. Hills and water, nature and humanity are melted together, so tourist resources are various and have many functions. There are big and small squares, pavilions,  corridors and observation decks. It is called “New Green Lake” by visitors. There are many people rambling and dancing here every night and taking exercise every morning. In summer, lotuses are in full bloom during the day and are close at night. So it is a good place for recreation and entertainment.

The Location of Luolong Park

Jiaoye Park昆明郊野公园, also known as Countryside Park, is one of the largest parks in the suburban area of Kunming (昆明), with a total area of 180 hectares and a sightseeing area of 62.5 hectares. • By Car: Drive along Dianchi Road (滇池路) and turn onto Huanhu Road (环湖路), or take Kunyu Road (昆玉路) and exit at Chenggong Station (呈贡站). Fenghuangshan Popular Science Ecological Park (昆明凤凰山科普生态公园) is located in the Shili Community (十里社区) and Yangfang’ao Community (羊方凹社区) within the Guandu District (官渡区) of Kunming (昆明). Crescent Pond Park (月牙潭公园) is a modern garden park located in the northern urban area of Kunming (昆明). Constructed with an investment of 270 million yuan by the Wuhua District Government (五华区政府), the park officially opened in October 2006. Covering an area of 160,000 square meters, with over 50,000 square meters of water surface and a greenery coverage rate of 70%, it serves as a serene natural retreat.

Changchongshan Mountain Ecological Park (长虫山生态公园) is located at the intersection of Longquan Road (龙泉路) and the northern section of Panlong River (盘龙江) in Wuhua District (五华区), Kunming (昆明). Known also as Snake Mountain (蛇山), it features distinctive topographical characteristics that showcase a rugged individuality. The mountain is largely bare, with few trees, and is covered primarily with grass, alongside stones resembling sheep grazing leisurely under divine care. The park lies within the jurisdiction of Hongyun Street Office (红云街道办事处) and Shalang Township Government (沙朗乡政府), bordered by Longquan Road to the east and the northern section of Panlong River to the west, with the West Baisha Reservoir (西白沙河水库) nearby. It serves as another mountain retreat for panoramic views of Kunming city, following the West Mountain Park (西山公园), making it an excellent destination for fitness and outdoor activities. The mountain resembles a giant stone python resting in the northern suburbs of Kunming.

Outdoor Activities

Changchongshan Mountain is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly for hiking and climbing, as it is situated far from the water surface of Dianchi Lake (滇池). The unique lava topography of the mountain attracts many mountaineers. On holidays, colorful camping tents dot the landscape, adding a charming touch to the scene. The steep cliffs on the western side of the mountain provide a spacious area suitable for paragliding activities. Due to the sparse tree coverage, the area offers wide views, making it ideal for various leisurely outdoor sports.

The most beautiful seasons to visit Changchongshan Mountain are spring and summer when the tender green grass and the scattered unique stones create a distinctive landscape.

Wujiatang Wetland Park (五甲塘湿地公园) is located in the Guandu District (官渡区) of Kunming City (昆明市), Yunnan Province (云南省), specifically within the Liu Jia Township (六甲乡) and Xiaobanquiao area. The park stretches from the Baoxiang River (宝象河) in the south to the Wujiatang River (五甲河) in the north, and it borders Dianchi Lake (滇池) to the west. Covering an area of approximately 1,300 acres, it is equivalent to the size of four Cuihu Parks (翠湖公园). This park is recognized as Kunming’s first wetland park, showcasing the beautiful scenery of Dianchi, which includes “Emerald Feathers and Red Clouds, Willows in Spring, and Lotus Flowers in Summer.”

The park is primarily composed of water surfaces, tidal flats, and marshes. The total investment for its construction was 530 million yuan, and the development is divided into two phases. Currently, the park’s visitor center, parking lot, public restrooms, viewing paths, and a 60-meter entrance road have been largely completed.

Site Selection

1. The wetland area of Wujiatang is rich in biodiversity, serving as a crucial habitat for various plant and animal species, including birds, insects, and other wildlife, contributing significantly to the biodiversity along the Dianchi Lake.
2. The park plays an essential role in flood control for the rivers entering Dianchi, such as the Baoxiang River and Wujiatang River. It aids in regulating water flow, storing water, replenishing groundwater, and maintaining the regional water balance, effectively functioning as a natural “sponge” for flood prevention.
3. As urbanization accelerates, the economic development in Liu Jia, Guandu, and Xiaobanquiao has been rapid. Agricultural and industrial growth, along with other human activities, has led to the inflow of pesticides and industrial pollutants into the wetland. Through biological and chemical processes within the wetland, these toxic substances can be degraded, effectively reducing pollution from upstream rivers like Baoxiang River and Wujiatang River. This natural barrier plays a vital role in improving the ecological environment around Dianchi and maintaining ecological balance along the lakeshore.
