Ake Ethnic People
The Ake people lived in the border area from Xishuangbanna to the northern Laos, and it is a branch of ancient Khmer. The Ake people are divided into three groups, namely Kemule(克木泐, indigenous people of Xishuangbanna), Kemulao(克木老, from Laos) and Kemujiao(克木交, from Vietnam). Ake people are mainly distributed at Nanla, Nanliang, Nanmang and Nam Ngum river banks in Mengla County, as well as the Manmai village in Garsa township of Jinghong city. Ake people call themselves “Guo Ke”, Han people call them Ake.
