Hongta Group is a subordinate key enterprise of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. It was established in Yuxi City, the “Hometown of Yunnan Tobacco”, Yunnan Province in 1956. Yunnan Copper Company Limited (SZSE: 000878) is the third largest copper producer in China. It was established in 1958 in Kunming, Yunnan, formerly Yunnan Smelting Plant. Yunnan Power Grid Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of CSG and manages the operations and transactions of power grids in Yunnan Province. It is responsible for power sale and power delivery in Yunnan Province, China’s West-to-East Electricity Transmission Project and electricity transmission to Vietnam and Laos. Kunming Iron & Steel Company(昆明钢铁控股有限公司)
Kunming Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd. (KISC) is a national extra-large industrial enterprise and the biggest iron and steel complex production base in Yunnan Province and one of the 520 key enterprises in China. At present there are about 30,000 employees. Up to the end of June 2002 the total amount of assets is RMB 11.196 billion and the asset and liability rate is 56%. The comprehensive steel production capacity is 2.5 million tons per year. KISC is an enterprise group engaged in iron and steel metallurgy, mechanical manufacture, construction and installation, real estate development, refractory, building materials, transportation, import and export, project engineering, electronic information technology, environmental protection etc. It ranks the 82nd among the top 500 enterprises in China.
The major products are pig iron, bar, high-speed wire rod, rebar, hot rolling plate, ferroalloy, coking product, etc. It passed the ISO9002 Standard Quality System Certification in 1997.
