Food Festivals

Yunnan food, alternatively known as Dian cuisine, is an amalgam of the cuisines of the Han Chinese and other ethnic minority groups in Yunnan Province in southwestern China. As the province with the largest number of ethnic minority groups, Yunnan cuisine is vastly varied, and it is difficult to make generalisations. Many Yunnan dishes are quite spicy, and mushrooms are featured prominently. Flowers, ferns, algae and insects may also be eaten.  Yunnan Province has by far the greatest variety of food to offer! Yunnan people are hospitable and  like to share their specialities with others. So food festivals will be the best way to show their food and culture in different areas.

The multicultural background of Yunnan makes it necessary to classify local Chinese cuisine into different sub-varieties. As Cross the Bridge Noodles is popular among the whole Yunnan province, some places like Yuxi will annually hold the Rice Noodles Gourmet. Xuanwei county is famous for ham and the gourmet festival is celebrated each year. You can not only enjoy the local delicious food and have fun with the residences during the gourmet festival. Yuanyang Long Street Banquet enjoys a good reputation in China and even in the world, which is a big event for Hani people in Yuanyang. It’s a good chance to taste the local ethnic food and discover the ethnic custom. Find more festivals about food as below.
