    How to Take Bus from Kunming to the Stone Forest

    Being around 100 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming(昆明), Stone Forest(石林) is known for its extraordinary karst land-form. An old local saying says that ‘If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.’ Obviously, ranking the first at its age, size and typical formation, the Stone Forest is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan. Taking a bus to Stone Forest is very convenient.

    Buses from Kunming to Stone Forest

    At Kunming East Bus Station, there are four coaches running to Stone Forest directly, with the departure time of 09:00, 10:30, 12:00, 17:30. While the coaches will set out once it's full. So the departure time is only for reference. Kunming East Bus Station is located at Zhaoqing Road, Panlong District, Kunming City(昆明市盘龙区照青路), which can be reached by taking City Bus No.22; No.29; No.60; No.237; No.902; No.906; No.C136; No. C137; No. K17; No. K18; No. K39; No. K9; No. Z110(ranges from CNY 1 to CNY 10), and the taxi fare from downtown area is around CNY 40 (according to the Chinese Uber, Didi), and expected time of arrival will be around 30 mins.

    Alternatively, tourists can take the bus to Shilin County at Kunming East Bus Station and transfer to Stone Forest by city bus No.5. There are four buses departing once it's full. And also about more than ten scheduled buses departs every 40 or 50 minutes from 07:30 to 20:00.

    Besides, there are shuttle buses departing from Kunming Changshui International Airport to Stone Forest directly at 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18:00.
