Kunming Subway Line 1

Extending in the north-south direction, Kunming Subway Line 1 contains two parts now: Main Line and Branch Line. The Main Line connects South Ring Road and University Town South, including 18 stations. Passengers can easily arrive at South Railway Station by taking subway line 1. This part is linked with Kunming metro line 2 at South Ring Road Station. The two subway lines are used as one so that passengers do not need to transfer to another train if they intend to take line 2. The present combined route of line 1 and line 2 runs for around 75 minutes.

The Branch Line (Northeast Extension) started to serve the public in the end of 2016, stretching around 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometers). According to the long-term plan, the northwest extension of this line will open in December, 2017.

For different trips, the fare varies from CNY2 to CNY12.
 Notes:
1. Children under 4 feet (1.3 meters) can enjoy free ride on the subway.
2. Paying with Kunming Transportation Card, passengers can enjoy 10% discount.

 Note: From Oct. 3, 2016, the last train departing from the University Town South to South Ring Road was adjusted to 22:10.

It serves from 06:20 to 22:20.

Tip: Passengers going to Kunming Railway Station are not suggested to get off at this station, but at the South Ring Road Station, because there is still 1km (more than half a mile) to walk to railway station from exit A.
