It is approximately 5 kilometers from the city center of Yuxi and about 92 kilometers from Kunming (昆明). The history of Dayingjie dates back to the Ming Dynasty, when it served as a key military defense base. During the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty (1851–1861), a market was formed here, giving the town its name. Known as “The First Village in Yunnan (云南第一村)” due to its success in pursuing common prosperity, Dayingjie is regarded as a model of rural revitalization in China.
