Longma Mountain in Hongta District, Yuxi

Longma Mountain (龙马山) is located in Xiaoshiqiao Yi Ethnic Township (小石桥彝族乡), Hongta District (红塔区), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省), about 15 kilometers from downtown Yuxi. It is the second highest peak in Hongta District, with an elevation of 2,438.5 meters.

History and Culture

Longma Mountain (龙马山) is named after its dragon-horse-like shape. Its geological formation dates back approximately 700 million years to the Sinian orogenic movement. The area is rich in historical and cultural heritage and is known as “The Yi People’s Dreamland” (“天下彝家·笃慕梦园”).
