Geographical Location

Fengqing county is located in the southwest of Yunnan province, northwest of Lincang, about 580 kilometers away from Kunming in Yunnan Province, about 123 kilometers away from Lincang.During the Ming Dynasty it was a frontier known as Shunning Prefecture (顺宁府). Fengqing County is known as the world famous "Dianhong town" and is one of the places to plant the world's native Tea. Fengqing is located in the south longitudinal valley of western Yunnan, the highest point of the Snowy Mountain, Huang Zhulin(黄竹林), about 3098 meters above sea level. The lowest point is in the exit of Mengtong River(孟统河), 900 meters above sea level. The County elevation is 1578.8 meters.

Ethnic Groups

The earliest people living in Fengqing county are called pu people(濮人), the ancestors of the Bulang(布朗族) and Wa(佤族), followed by Dai(傣族), Yi(彝族), Bai(白族), Hui(回族), Miao(苗族), Lisu(傈僳族), Lahu(拉祜族), etc. entering to settle. In Ming and Qing dynasties, a great number of Han people settled in Fengqing county. As of July 2012, the county had 24 ethnic groups and a population of 422,800.

Fengqing County enjoys a mild climate, abundant sunshine, enough rain fall, wet and dry seasons, and the annual average temperature is 16.5 ℃. Fengqiing is known for the "how high the mountain is, how deep the water is, four seasons like spring". Fengqing County was entitled as "2014 China's happiest county-level city", and China's city competitiveness ranking was released in Hong Kong.

Also the profound tea culture, unique Tea-Horse Road in Lushi Town, the magnificent Qinglong Bridge(青龙桥) and remarkable Xiaowan Hydropower Station (小湾水电站工程) on the Lancang River are increasingly attracting the attention of tourists from all over the world.

Dianhong Black Tea

Fengqing manufactures the black tea and Puer tea. Dianhong black tea, a type of relatively high-end Chinese black tea, which grows in Yunnan Province, China. And it sometimes uses in various tea blends. The main difference between Dianhong black tea and other Chinese black teas is the amount of fine leaf buds, or "golden tips," present in the dried tea.
