2.Geographical Location

Fuyuan County is affiliated to the eastern part of Yunnan Province, east of Qujing City, and is located at the east longitude of 103°58′~104°49′ north latitude 25°~25°58′. It is adjacent to Panxian in Guizhou and Qilin District in the west, Luoping County in the south, Xingyi City in Guizhou, and Xuanwei City in the north.

3.Introduction

The country's land area is 3,251 square kilometers. The landscape of Fuyuan County is Zhongshan Mountain, with prominent canyon landforms, characterized by vertical river cutting, north-south distribution of mountains and rivers, broken terrain, deep valleys, steep slopes, developed karst, narrow valleys and scattered scattered arable land. The lowest elevation is the special earth gorge in the southeast, with an elevation of 1,110 meters. Fuyuan County belongs to the monsoon humid climate of the southern temperate zone. The precipitation is abundant in the territory, and the four seasons are mild. The average annual temperature is about 14 °C, the relative humidity is relatively large, the rain and heat are in the same season, the dry and wet are distinct, and the light and heat conditions are better.

4.History

In the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Yiwen and Wanwen County. When the two Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties, they belonged to Ningzhou Prefecture. In Sui Dynasty, it is a county in Yizhou Prefecture. In Tang Dynasty it belonged to Panzhou Pfefecture. When Nanzhao Kingdom and Dali Kingdom came, they were the Momei Department. During the Yuan Dynasty, Luoshan County was established in the north of the territory, belonging to Qujing Xuanfu Division. In the 23rd year of Ming Hongwu time, the Luoshan County was abandoned, and the new Pingyi County was established and Wanwen was still in the south. At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Pingyi County was owned by Yunnan and Yizuo County was Qujing Military and People's Government. In the 14th year of Qing Shunzhi time, the Yisuo County changed as Pingyi County. In the thirty-fourth year of Emperor Kangxi time, the county was built in Pingshu County, and it was also the Qujing Military and People's Government. In 1954, it was renamed Fuyuan County.

Fuyuan County has jurisdiction over 10 towns and 1 ethnic township: Zhong'an Town(中安镇), Housuo Town(后所镇), Mohong Town(墨红镇), Dahe Town(大河镇), Yingshang Town(营上镇), Zhuyuan Town(竹园镇), Fucun Town(富村镇), Huangnihe Town黄泥河镇, Shiba Lianshan Town(十八连山镇), Gudan Shui Ethnic Township(古敢水族乡), Laochang Township(老厂乡).

6.Ethnic Groups

Fuyuan is a multi-ethnic county with Han, Hui, Yi, Zhuang, Miao, Bai, Naxi ethnic minorities. Tibetan, Yao, Lahu, Yi, Hani, Mongolia, Achang, Pumi, Dulong, Yi, Buyi, Water, Dongxiang and other 25 ethnic groups are still in Fuyuan. The inhabitants of the world have five ethnic groups: Han, Hui, Yi, Zhuang and Miao.  The most populous minority in Fuyuan County is the Shui. All townships (towns) have ethnic minorities living inhabited, forming a ethnic group with large mixed populations, and all ethnic groups live in harmony. There is a Shui ethnic town, Gudan Shui Ethnic Town.
