2. Location

Located in the southernmost tip of Yunnan province and southeast of Xishuangbanna, bordering the Botan port of Laos, Mohan is the only state-level port between China and Laos, crossing between 101° 42' 14.4" (101.704°) east longitude and  21° 12' 36" (21.21°) north latitude.

Mohan Border Economy Development Zone has jurisdiction over 1 town, 6 village committees, 2 community, 66 groups of villagers.

Mohan Ethnic Culture is diverse and colorful. It is a place where multi-ethnic groups inhabit including Dai, Miao, Yao, Hani, etc. 

5. Climate and Weather

Mohan climate is warm and temperate. In winter, there is much less rainfall in Mohan than in summer. This location is classified as Cwa by Köppen and Geiger. The average annual temperature in Mohan is 21.2 °C. The rainfall here averages 1615 mm.

6. Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Mohan is during the dry season (from November to April), when the weather is agreeable and the temperature is mild. If you would like to taste the rich tropical fruit here, traveling during the period from June to September is a good choice. 

7. Things to Do

There's not many things to see in Mohan except the Border Control. While it's near Wangtianshu Scenic Area which is a popular attraction in Xishuangbanna.

8. How to Get to Mohan?

Currently, tourists can only take long-distance bus or fly to Xishuangbanna and then transfer to Mohan by bus. Long-distance bus is the main way getting to Mohan.
