There are many famous local dishes and snacks in Yiliang. For Lying in the northeast part of Yunnan province, the eating habits of Zhaotong people are deeply influenced by Sichuan cuisine and Guizhou cuisine. But there are still some famous local dishes and snacks are listed as follow:

Tungoiltree leaves cake(桐子叶粑粑)

Tungoiltree leaves cake is wraped with raw materials such as japonica rice, indica rice, corn, wheat, etc. Although the raw materials are different. But they all need to ferment. The way of fermentation is not the same, some with porridge and dry material to ferment, some directly ferment. After fermenting, take fresh, tender and moderate Tungoiltree leaves, wrap them into a funnel shape, cover the top with raw materials, and the shape is sharp and flat. Finally put in the steamer, and cook with a special fragrance.

Chicken stewed with rhizoma gastrodiae (天麻鸡)

Yiliang county is a big rhizoma gastrodiae producer in China. Widely used in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), rhizoma gastrodiae is also usually stewed with chicken, giving birth to a local signature delicacy one must try when in Yiliang county of Zhaotong.
