In 2006, Luquan County inhabited by Yi, Miao, Han, Lisu, Dai, Zhuang, Hui, Hani eight ethnic groups and other ethnic minorities a total of 24. The total population is 457000, of which 140787 are ethnic minorities, accounting for 30.76 percent of the total population.
