Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Kunming-Tonghai-Jianshui

Sightseeing and Activities: Ximeng Mongolian Village, Shuanglong Bridge, Tuanshan Village, Garden of Family Zhang, Jianhsui Old Town
Accommodation: Jianshui
Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Drive to Jianshui. On the way, have a stop at Tonghai County. Visit Xingmeng Mongolian Village.  Then transfer to Jianshui Couty. Visit Shuanglong Birdge andTuanshan Village as well as the Garden of Family Zhang in Tuanshan Village. Tuanshan Village is a rare surviving example of an intact-albeit neglected-traditional walled Yunnan village compound in southwestern China, and has been added to the 2005 list of internationally significant sites by the World Memorial Fund for Architecture (WMF), an international fund for the protection of world heritage sites. Later , you’ll visit the Jianshui Old Town and the Chaoyang Gateway Tower, which was built in Ming Dynasty (1389). It is also known as ‘Miniature Tian’an men’ because the out shape of it is similar to Tian’anmen Square in Beijing.

Day 2 Jianshui-Kunming

Sightseeing and Activities: Confucius Temple, Zhu Family Garden, Jianshui Touring Train, Yunnan meter-gauge railway
Accommodation
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning, visit the Confucius Temple, which has a history of 700 years. It is the second largest Confucius Temple in China. Then you’ll take the Jianshui Touring Train to visit Tuanshan Village, Shuanglong Bridge and the Garden of Family Zhang.

The Yunnan meter-gauge railway evolved from the historical Yunnan-Vietnam Railway and Gebi Linping inch-gauge railways. It has passed through 3 centuries and has been in operation for more than 100 years. It carries the special historical memories of China, France, and Vietnam. It is an important historical and cultural site. The Jianshui Sightseeing Train is now a special tourist train: it departs from Lin’an Station, which is close to Jianshui Ancient Town, passes through “Double Dragon Bridges” and “Xianghui Bridge Station”, ends at “Tuanshan Village” Station, and then returns on the same route.

The Meter-gauge railway also draws attention points. This 1177 meters long Meter-gauge railway is a legendary road that connects the cities, villages of Yunnan, such as Gejiu, Mengzi, Jianshui and Shipin. One of the earliest private railways in China was built in 1915 in Yunnan. It was an Narrow-Gauge railway originally. In 1970, it was reconstructed and changed from an Narrow-gauge railway to a mete-gauge railway. It’s an important industrial heritage of China and a “living fossil” of the world’s narrow-gauge railway.
Transfer back to Kunming in the afternoon.

Four-Day Adventure in Yubeng Village: A Timeless Journey
Yubeng Village, located in Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is a place I had long dreamed of visiting. Starting from Shangri-La, this four-day trek was not just a journey through picturesque landscapes but also a spiritual cleanse. On the first day, we set off from Feilai Temple. Along the way, I could see the golden rays of the morning sun piercing through the misty mountains, casting a divine glow over the entire village. This spectacle left me speechless. Standing at the entrance of Yubeng Village in the evening, I felt as if I had stepped into a blank canvas painting, with every stroke vibrantly echoing the profound silence of nature. The next day, we began our trek to Nanzongya Pass and then descended towards the Upper Yubeng Village. Although the home stay was extremely basic, it sufficed to shield us from the mountain wind and cold. That night, the village hosted a bonfire party. We shared stories with the local Tibetan villagers, who were very friendly and hospitable. Under the starry sky, amidst singing and dancing, I felt a sense of belonging in this distant land. On the third day, we continued our journey to the Ice Lake and then ventured deeper into the canyon to Yubeng's Lower Village. The ice at the lake's edge contrasted sharply with the surrounding lush greenery, presenting a striking and beautiful vista. As we walked, the village's barley fields swayed in the wind like waves, and I could hear the crisp sound of the barley. This harmonious blend of nature enveloped me in an indescribable serenity. On the fourth day, we returned to Feilai Temple via the Original Forest and the Ancient Trail. In the dense forest, every rustle of leaves and bird call was like a lullaby, making me feel as if the forest itself was nurturing all living beings. At the exit of Yubeng Village, I took one last look and silently promised to return. This four-day journey not only gifted me breathtaking views and physical challenge but also instilled in me a deep love for nature and respect for life. Yubeng Village is like a time tunnel, leading people back to simplicity and tranquility. For those yearning to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, I highly recommend experiencing this serene journey. Here, you will find your inner peace and true self.
