Liming Town (黎明镇) is located in the northwest of Yulong County (玉龙县), Lijiang City (丽江市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It is the only Lisu ethnic township (傈僳族乡) in Yulong County and is situated in the heart of the world natural heritage site “Three Parallel Rivers” (三江并流). To the east, it faces Jijiang Town (吉江镇) in Shangri-La County (香格里拉县) across the river; to the south, it borders Shigu Town (石鼓镇) and Shitou Township (石头乡) in Yulong County; to the west, it connects with Lanchuan County (兰川县) in Nujiang Prefecture (怒江州); and to the north, it neighbors Jidian Town (巨甸镇) and Ludian Township (鲁甸乡) in Yulong County.
Geographical Location
The town government of Liming Town (黎明镇) is located in Liming Village (黎明村), which is 120 kilometers away from the county seat of Yulong (玉龙县) and has an altitude of 2,180 meters. The town covers a total area of about 547.9 square kilometers and administers four village (residential) committees—Liming (黎明), Liguan (黎光), Duimei (堆美), and Meile (美乐)—and 78 villagers’ groups. There are several transportation options available for traveling from Lijiang City (丽江市) to Liming Town (黎明镇), as follows:
1. Self – driving
Route (路线): Starting from the urban area of Lijiang (丽江), drive along the Lijiang – Ninglang Highway (S221) (丽宁公路), passing through Yongning Town (永宁镇) in Ninglang County (宁蒗县) and other places. Continue driving to reach Liming Town (黎明镇). The total distance is over 100 kilometers. The road conditions are generally good, but some sections may be mountainous, so pay attention to driving safety. Time (时间): Under normal circumstances, it takes about 2 – 3 hours to drive.
2. Chartering a Car
Cost (费用): The chartering cost varies depending on the type of vehicle and the distance of the trip. Generally, the cost for a day’s charter is around 400 – 600 yuan, and the specific price can be negotiated with the driver. Advantages (优点): Chartering a car is relatively convenient as you can stop whenever you want according to your own travel schedule. It is suitable for tourists who have ample time and want to arrange their itinerary freely.
3. Public Transportation
Long – distance Bus (长途客车): Taking a Bus from Lijiang Passenger Station (丽江客运站乘车): You can first go to Lijiang Passenger Station (丽江客运站) and take a long – distance bus to Liming Town (黎明镇). The bus will pass through some towns and villages along the way before arriving at Liming Town. Time (时间): The journey takes about 3 – 4 hours, and the actual time may vary depending on the road conditions and the number of stops. Fare (票价): The ticket price is generally between 30 – 50 yuan, subject to the actual fare.
Transfer by Public Transport (中转乘车): First to Ninglang County (先到宁蒗县): You can first take public transportation to Ninglang County (宁蒗县) and then transfer to a local minibus or van to Liming Town (黎明镇). The journey from Lijiang (丽江) to Ninglang County (宁蒗县) takes about 2 – 3 hours, and from Ninglang County (宁蒗县) to Liming Town (黎明镇) takes about 1 – 2 hours. Advantages (优点): This method is relatively cost – effective and suitable for budget – conscious travelers. Disadvantages (缺点): It requires a transfer, which may take more time and effort.
4. Traveling with a Tour Group
Joining a Tour Group (参加旅游团): If you have limited time or do not want to arrange your own transportation and itinerary, you can choose to join a local tour group. Tour groups usually include services such as transportation and tour guide interpretation, which are more hassle – free. Cost (费用): The cost of a tour group varies depending on the itinerary and the services included, generally ranging from 200 – 500 yuan.
No matter which transportation method you choose, it is recommended to get to know the road conditions and traffic information in advance and plan your itinerary reasonably. If you choose public transportation, you can go to the passenger station or bus station in advance to inquire about the specific bus schedules and departure times to avoid missing your trip.
