Beicheng Subdistrict is located in the northern part of Hongta District (红塔区), Yuxi City (玉溪市) at 102°33′ east longitude and 24°25′ north latitude. It borders Xiaoshiqiao Township (小石桥乡) and Jiangchuan Hangu Valley (江川旱谷田) to the east, Chunhe (春和街道) and Liqi Subdistricts (李棋街道) to the south, and Jinning County (晋宁县) of Kunming City (昆明市) to the west and north. The administrative office is 8 km south of the district government and 80 km north of Kunming.
With profound historical significance, the area was known as Puzhalong City (普扎笼城) during the Later Jin period of Five Dynasties. In 1256 during the Yuan Dynasty, it became Pushe Qianhusuo (普舍千户所) and later Pushe County (普舍县) under Xinxing Prefecture (新兴州). After several administrative changes through Ming and Qing dynasties, it was established as Beicheng Subdistrict in March 2011.
Beicheng preserves rich cultural heritage including traditional caravan culture and farming traditions. The ancient streets maintain their century-old layout with well-preserved historical buildings like Gaogu Tower (高古楼), Guangfo Temple (光佛寺), and Longzhao Temple (龙照寺).

Yudai Subdistrict is located in the southwest-central part of Hongta District (红塔区), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Yuxing Subdistrict (玉兴街道) and Phoenix Subdistrict (凤凰街道) to the east, Gaocang Subdistrict (高仓街道) to the south, Dayingjie Subdistrict (大营街街道) to the west, and Chunhe Subdistrict (春和街道) and Liqi Subdistrict (李棋街道) to the north. Positioned in the southwestern area of the central urban district of Yuxi, Yudai Subdistrict is an important part of Hongta District.
Yudai Subdistrict boasts a long history and rich cultural heritage. Its name originates from Yudai Bridge (玉带桥), which spans a bend in the Hushan River (虎山河). Built along the river’s natural flow, the bridge has a graceful arc resembling the jade belt worn by ancient emperors. This elegant form inspired the name “Yudai.” The subdistrict is also known for its vibrant folk arts, such as paper-cutting. Local folk artists like Feng Guangxiang (冯光祥) use paper-cutting to “tell” stories about Yuxi, showcasing the region’s landmarks and cultural history through intricate designs.

Yuxing Subdistrict (玉兴街道) is located in the central-eastern part of Hongta District (红塔区), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Fenghuang Subdistrict (凤凰街道) to the southeast, Yudai Subdistrict (玉带街道) to the southwest, and Liqi Subdistrict (李棋街道) to the northeast. The subdistrict office is located at No. 55 Yuxing Road (玉兴路), only 0.8 kilometers from the district government and 88 kilometers from Kunming (昆明), the provincial capital.
Yuxing Subdistrict (玉兴街道) boasts a long history and rich cultural heritage. In the first year of Shangyuan of the Tang Dynasty (760 AD), the area was under Wenfuzhou (温富州). In the 13th year of Zhiyuan during the Yuan Dynasty (1276), the state governance was established here. Throughout the Ming, Qing, and Republican eras, it served as the administrative seat of the state and county. On December 28, 1998, the original Zhoucheng Town (州城镇) was abolished and reorganized into three subdistricts: Yuxing Road (玉兴路), Yudai Road (玉带路), and Fenghuang Road (凤凰路). In March 2011, Yuxing Road Subdistrict was renamed Yuxing Subdistrict.
Yuxing Subdistrict (玉兴街道) is home to a multi-ethnic population, primarily Han people, with significant Yi (彝族) and Hui (回族) communities. Many traditional customs are still preserved, such as the Yi Torch Festival and traditional Hui celebrations. These festivals are usually accompanied by vibrant performances and local ethnic cuisines, offering an excellent opportunity to experience the region’s folk culture.
