Located on the shore of Erhai Lake in west Yunnan’s Dali, the 2,000-year-old Gusheng Village has optimized its ecological environment and generated new vitality.

Bai people accounts for more than 98% population of Gusheng Village. Ancient bridges, temples, trees, opera stages and folk houses have witnessed the time-honored history of the village.

As it is located near Erhai Lake, Gusheng is closely connected to the water quality of the lake. In recent years, local villagers have increased their eco protection effort and local environment have been improved.

The notion of ecological protection has enjoyed wide support from villagers. Every household is now equipped with sewage disposal system for the kitchen, toilet, laundry and breeding. Rainwater and sewage are handled separately, and only the water, of which the quality meets the required standard, can be discharged into the lake.

In the meantime, the villagers have beautified their hometown. Folk houses decorated with paintings has constituted a idyllic picture, together with the blue sky, white clouds and clean water, attracting a large number of tourists.

In 2015, Gusheng Village was listed in the third batch of national traditional villages; in 2016, it was named one of the top 100 beautiful villages in China; and in 2017, it was honored as the fifth national civilized village.

How to Travel to Jiuxiang Cave from The Stone Forest?

By Bus

There is no direct bus from the Stone Forest to Jiuxiang Cave. Tourists need to transfer at Yiliang County.

Stone Forest to Yiliang

At the entrance of Stone Forest, there are buses running to Shilin Bus Station, and tourists can take the bus from Shilin County to Yiliang County. The whole journey is about 50 minutes with a cost of CNY 12.

Yiliang County to Jiuxiang Cave

At Yiliang Bus Station, there are buses from Yiliang County to Jiuxiang Cave. The whole journey is about 40 minutes.

By Private Car Rental

It takes about 1 hour and 2 minutes to drive from Yiliang County to Jiuxiang Cave, and the toll is 55 yuan. The whole distance is about 48.4 kilometers.

How to Travel to Jiuxiang Cave from Kunming?

By Touring Car

At Yunnan Impression Town Gate near Kunming South Railway Station or near Chayuan Hotel, take a tourist bus directly to Jiuxiang Cave. The round trip fare is about CNY 30 – 40 per person.

By Bus

There is no direct bus from the Kunming to Jiuxiang Cave. Tourists need to transfer at Yiliang County.

Kunming to Yiliang County

There are many buses departing from Kunming East Bus Station and Kunming South Bus Station to Yiliang. It costs about CNY 26-30. The whole journey is about 1 hour.

By High-speed Train + Chartered Car

Tourists can travel to Jiuxiang Cave with a Stone Forest Trip.

Kunming to Shilin County

Tourists also can get to Shilin County by high-speed train at first. The high-speed train departs from Kunming South Railway Station. The whole journey is about 17 minuts with a cost of CNY 18 for high-speed train. It is the most convenient way to get to Shilin County. Tourists also can chose get to Shilin County by normal speed train. The The whole journey is about 46 minutes to 1 hour and 36 minutes with a cost of CNY 28.5.

Shilin County to Jiuxiang Cave

There is no direct bus from Shilin to Jiuxiang Cave. Tourists can choose chartered cars to Jiuxiang Cave. It might cost CNY 200 for roundtrip.

It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes to drive from Kunming to Jiuxiang Cave, and the toll is 55 yuan. The whole distance is about 100 kilometers.
