According to historical material, Yongshan(永善) was the territory of Liangzhou prefecture(梁州) in Xia dynasty, and belonged to the southwest barbarians in Qin dynasty. In Han dynasty, it was under the command of Shushi county(朱提县)，Qianwei prefecture(犍为郡). Later, in Tang dynasty, it was one of Cuan people’s tribe , in Song dynasty, it was subordinate to Wumeng tribe, which was reset as Wumeng Road in Yuan dynasty. Wumeng Road was the territory of Sichuan province in Ming dynasty. Then, in the next period-Qing dynasty, the governor of Yunnan province calmed Wumeng down. In 1731, Yongshan county was established. Since the liberation in 1950, Yongshan county was under the command of Zhaotong city.
Yongshan county(永善县) is rich in entertaining resources. Teahouses can be seen everywhere, and local people always drink tea and play cards or mahjong in these teahouses. With a history of over 2000 years, Huize is the earliest administration of middle kingdom in southwest of China. Historically Huize has been served as a magnificent center of bronze mining, minting, casting of bronze coins, an important official currency minter for all the Chinese Dynasties. The brilliant historical legacies are still kept in the backstreets of Huize old town. A numbers of guild halls, temples residences with Ming and Qing styles in a family garden and houses are still can be seen. Now Huize is enlisted as one of cultural cities in Yunnan.
Yongshan county(永善县) has a long history of more than 2000 years. Since the ancient time, it has bred many outstanding figures. Yongshan lies in the foot of Wumeng mountain, it was one of the birthplaces of Yi people’s culture.
Minority Costoms(民族风情)
Songs and dances: traditional songs and dances of Yi and Miao people, drum dance, Dongjing music(洞经音乐), the lion dancing and yangko of Han people.
Festivals: Huashan festival(花山节) of Miao people, torch festival and ten months solar festival of Yi people.
Traditional Handicraft: wax printing and the folk costume of Miao people, traditional wine-making, potting and so on.

During the Spring and Autumn warring state period, Suijiang was subordinate to Bo kingdom(僰候国). In 221 BC, the First Emperor of Qin established the system of prefectures and counties, from then on, Suijiang became a county of Shu prefecture(蜀郡). In Han Dynasty, Suijiang was separately subordinate to Bodao prefecture(僰道郡) and Shushi prefecture(朱提郡). In 618 AD, Suijiang was a member of Shangan county. In Song Dynasty, Suijiang was under the jurisdiction of Tongchuan prefecture(潼川路府). In Qing Dynasty, Suijiang was the sub-county of Yongshan county, in 1910, Suijiang was allowed to be set as a county and named as “Jingjiang” , the next year, it was renamed as “Suijiang”.
Suijiang is a lively small city, you can found all kinds of entertaining activities here. Forest Park
The forest park is a comprehensive amusement park , it has many kinds of fitness equipment and recreational facilities. Local people always spend their night time here after dinner. Sometimes, the local government holds some celebrating activities, like autumn festival party.
Comma Dock
The comma dock was originally built as a centre park on which people fishing, playing games and boating. Now, it has became a water park, and one of the landmarks of Suijiang county.
Suijiang county has a long history of more than 2000 years, after the development of 2000 years, Suijiang people has formed their own culture-a combination of Bashu culture(巴蜀文化) and local custom. Some highlights of Suijiang culture are list as below:
Dragon Lantern Dance(龙灯舞)
Dragon lantern dance is also known as dragon-lantern show. It popularizes in Mid-city town and towns along the Jinsha river. The dance is only hold in Lantern Festival and the very moment which was droughty in the year. According to the forms, dragon can be classified into four types: fiery dragon, green dragon , colorful dragon and grass-made dragon. It is said that the grass-made dragon was in charge of water and rain, except for the droughty situation, grass-made dragon was not allowed to be danced. In addition, no matter in what occasion it came across another three dragons, they had to give way to it.
Lion Dance(狮子舞)
Lion dance is also called lion-lantern dance. It has popularized in Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou province in Qing dynasty. In suijiang county ,there was always lion dances during every solar term, at the same time, once someone was in such occasion as new born, death, illness, disaster or building a new house, he need a lion dance performance. During the process of its’ development, Suijiang lion dance has formed its’ own characteristic and style.
Jinjiang Haozi(金江号子)
Jinjiang Haozi is a simple labor chant when the boat sailing on the Jinsha river, the river basin is limited in the section between New-city townof Sichuan province to Chongqing city. Because of the fast-flowing river, the leader displays the worker’s chant freely and frequently, the worker’s chant melody is simple, the potential is mad and powerful. Jinjiang Haozi is now an important item of Suijiang culture heritage.
Since Emperor Wu set Nanguang county in 135 BC, Zhenxiong has history of more than 2100 years. In 214, Nanguang county was reset as Nanchang county, which was the territory of Shushi prefecture(朱提郡). In 754,Tang dynasty, the army of Tang governor was defeated by Nanzhao kingdom(南诏国) during the Tianbao battle, since then, Zhenxiong was under the command of Nanzhao, and renamed as Mangbu. Later, in Yuan dynasty, Mangbu was changed its’ title to Mangbu Road(芒部路). The governor of Qing dynasty inherited the system of Ming dynasty, keeping Zhenxiong as the territory of Sichuan province, however, before long, it was reset as Zhenxiong prefecture. In 1731, it was first established as a county. At first, it was combined with Weixin county, after the liberation of China, Zhenxiong county has been subordinate to Zhaotong city tile now.

Zhenxiong is the No.1 population county in Yunnan province, at the same time, it is an area inhabited by ethnic groups, especially Yi and Miao people. After a long process of mixing together and developing, Zhengxiong county has formed its’ culture with local characteristics.
Protection Area of the Traditional Culture of Yi and Miao People
There are three taditional culture protection areas in Zhenxiong county: Xiao Miduo village, Aner township(安尔乡小米多村), Black wood village, Linkou towhship(林口乡木黑村) and Haodu village, Potou towhship(坡头乡亳都村).
Language and Character of Ethnic Groups(民族语言文字)
Today, Yi people is keeping using their character, and few people can speak Yi language; Miao people once used their old language in small range, after the liberation, they created new Miao language, but not popularized and almost nobody understood. Now, Miao language is seldom used, most of them is tending to use Chinese language.
Folk Music and Dance of minorities(民族民间音乐、舞蹈)
In Zhenxiong county, most folk songs are improvised. It was popular among the countryside in the old time. Its’ contents are mainly about love, warning, irony and daily life. According to purpose, it can be classified into ditty, custom songs and funeral music. Folk dance in Zhenxiong is always danced in the funeral of Miao, Yi and Han people. But sometimes, they also dance during their festivals.
In Xia and Shang dynasty, Yiliang(彝良) was the territory of Liangzhou(梁州) and Yongzhou prefecture(雍州) and in Qin dynasty, it was under the command of Yelang kingdom(夜郎国). During Han and Jin dynasty, it was subordinate to Shushi county(朱提县) and it belonged to Xiezhou prefecture(协州) in Tang dynasty. Later, in Song dynasty, it was named Yiniang tribe(易娘部) and subordinated to Xvzhou prefecture. In Yuan dynasty, it was under the command of Mangbu Road(芒部路). In Qing dynasty, it was under the administration of Yunnan province. In 1913, Yiliang prefecture was recalled and Yiliang county was established. Since 1922, the county has been subordinate to Zhaotong city.
Yiliang is located in the junction area of Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou province. Different culture types mixed together here, the minority groups, especially Miao people’s culture, is influenced by Weining county of Guizhou province, only the Yi people inhabit in the Kuixiang mountain(奎香山) preserved the cultural characteristics which is different from the Yi people in Liangshan autonomous prefecture, Sichuan province. They still keep their folk songs and dances with a long history.
General Luo Binghui(罗炳辉将军)
Luo Binghui ,was born in Yiliang county, Yunnan province in 1897. In July 1929, he joint the Communist Party of China. General Luo died of illness in 1946. He was recognized as one of the 33 strategists of Chinese people’s liberation army and the only proletariat strategist in Yunnan province.
