Gaosheng Coffee Manor in Baoshan

Gaosheng Coffee Manor in Baoshan

Gaosheng Coffee Manor is a comprehensive facility in Bayi Team, Lujiang Farm (潞江农场八一队), Lujiang Town (潞江镇), Longyang District (隆阳区), Baoshan City (保山市), Yunnan Province. The manor integrates premium coffee planting, processing, sales, and leisure tourism. Covering an area of 17.5 acres, it boasts an organic coffee plantation base of 520 acres and an internationally certified 4C coffee plantation base at Dahongpo (大红坡), spanning 9,200 acres. With an annual production of 6,000 to 12,000 tons of raw coffee beans, the manor exports its products to North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and over 30 other regions. In November 2022, it was listed as one of Yunnan's Boutique Coffee Plantations (云南省精品咖啡庄园). Its core product, Nankang Coffee (赧亢咖啡), adheres to strict harvesting standards and has received wide recognition in the industry.

Location and History

The manor is situated in the Nujiang Dry Hot Valley (怒江干热河谷) area, near the border with Myanmar, approximately 50 km away. The history of the manor dates back to 1955, during the frontier reclamation period, with the cultivation of coffee in the region spanning three generations of coffee farmers. Over time, the manor has developed into a multifaceted production, processing, and trade hub.

Business Features and Industry Integration

The manor showcases a blend of industrial heritage and coffee culture. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a display of the manor’s self-branded coffee beans and traditional Dai ethnic textiles (傣族织锦). The core area preserves coffee-making equipment from the 1950s, such as roasters and de-hulling machines, reflecting the evolution of coffee processing. The manor's services include:

  • Coffee picking experience (available from November to March)

  • Wet processing demonstration (equipped with machinery capable of processing 60 tons of fresh fruit daily)

  • Coffee cupping courses (open to visitors)

  • On-site accommodations with dining services

Plantation and Production Process

The Nankang Base (赧亢基地) covers 520 acres and follows organic farming standards, while the Dahongpo Base (大红坡基地), spanning 9,200 acres, is 4C certified for international coffee standards. The coffee cherries are harvested using the "all red fruit" standard, with the fresh fruit being color-sorted and processed within four hours. The beans are then washed, fermented, and sun-dried. The manor uses constant temperature and humidity storage to maintain the beans' moisture content between 10.5% and 11.5%.

Recognition and Market Impact

As of 2023, the manor’s operational entity has received numerous awards:

  • 2017-2019: Recognized as an Advanced Foreign Trade Enterprise in Baoshan City (保山市外贸先进企业).

  • 2018-2019: Awarded as a Top 100 Foreign Trade Enterprise in Yunnan Province (云南省外向型双百强企业).

  • 2022: Selected as one of the First Batch of Boutique Coffee Plantations in Yunnan Province (云南省精品咖啡庄园).

The manor has an annual export volume of 6,000 to 12,000 tons of coffee beans, with sales revenue reaching 280 million RMB in 2021. Its products are sold in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

Personnel and Social Responsibility

The manor currently employs 41 permanent staff and 18 seasonal workers, with six functional departments, including a Planting Management Department and a Quality Testing Center. By signing contract agreements with surrounding villages, the manor helps over 2,000 local coffee farmers achieve standardized production, increasing the average income by 12,000 RMB per household annually (2021 data).
