Overview of Manzhang Village

Manzhang Village (曼掌村) is located in Mengyang Town (勐养镇), Jinghong City (景洪市), Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture (西双版纳傣族自治州), Yunnan Province (云南省). This village has recently emerged as a center for the inheritance and development of Dai culture (傣族文化).

The Rise of Manzhang

The rise of Manzhang is attributed to local government support for ethnic minorities with smaller populations. Its prosperity stems from the increasing emphasis on traditional culture by more and more people.

Manzhang is about 10 kilometers from Jinghong City. Upon entering the village, visitors might feel as if they have arrived at a tourist resort. However, as they venture further inside, they will discover delightful surprises.

Cultural Experiences

Visitors can find a majestic Bodhi tree (菩提树) and distinctive Dai wooden houses (傣家木楼). The friendly local residents eagerly invite visitors into their homes to experience various Dai handicraft projects, such as brewing liquor (烤酒), paper making (造纸), and weaving Dai silk (织傣锦), allowing guests to engage with the essence of traditional culture.

Manzhang Village has an ancient history, rich in natural, cultural, and folkloric heritage, continuously infused with the enduring spirit of Dai culture. Importantly, the village maintains its original flavor and state, remaining completely undeveloped.

Village Characteristics

With over 500 years of history, Manzhang Village consists of 102 households. The entire village retains an ancient and rustic style, featuring traditional stilted bamboo houses (吊脚竹楼) and clean streets adorned with flowers and greenery.

Manzhang Motor Home Camping Park

The Manzhang Motor Home Camping Park (曼掌房车营地公园) is located beside this ancient and simple Dai village. It features 15 motor homes, each equipped with a shower room, bathroom, television, air conditioning, sofa, and a 50-square-meter private courtyard.

Attractions and Experiences

This park is an excellent destination that integrates sightseeing, health care, relaxation, and experiences of Dai gourmet cuisine (傣味美食) as well as Dai folk culture (傣族民俗文化). Visitors can engage in eighteen intangible cultural heritage experiences (非物质文化遗产体验项目) related to the Dai people.

The park offers a chance to return to nature, resting beneath the stars and moon in a motor home, surrounded by mountains and forests. Visitors can sit quietly, meditate, and harmonize with nature, embracing an alternative lifestyle.

Management and Facilities

According to reports, the camping site is managed by Yunnan Port China Travel Autodo Motor Home Tourism Development Co., Ltd. (云南港中旅奥特多房车旅游发展有限公司), and is divided into two sections: the towed motor home area (拖挂式房车营地) and the self-propelled motor home area (自行式房车营地).

• Towed Motor Home Area: This area includes 15 units with interiors featuring a living room, bedroom, shower, bathroom, air conditioning, television, and sofa. Outdoor leisure areas and service facilities are also provided.
• Self-Propelled Motor Home Area: This area offers four types of accommodation: double rooms, family rooms, honeymoon suites, and parent-child rooms. Both the interior and exterior of these motor homes are equipped with wireless internet connectivity, and there are facilities like sewage disposal at the rear.

Currently, the camp employs four staff members and is still in the operational exploration stage, categorizing it as a small micro-camping site (小微营地). The company plans to establish 100 micro-camping sites throughout Yunnan Province in three years.

Manzhang Village is nestled among mountains and waters, allowing visitors to admire the lush green mountains, listen to the whispers of birds, savor the earth’s aromas, and breathe in fresh air. This tranquil setting offers a romantic and enjoyable camping experience. The Manzhang Motor Home Camping Park aims to be a leisure tourism destination focused on energy-saving, environmental protection, and ecological preservation while allowing travelers to reconnect with nature and enjoy experiential tourism.
