Located 23 km northeast of Xundian County town in Kunming’s Hui & Yi Autonomous County, Beidaying Grassland spans 18,000 mu (about 12 km²) of ecological grass hills, with a planned 36 km² tourism area. In summer, the area turns into a sea of lush green dotted with grazing cattle and sheep, earning it the nickname “Southern Little Grassland.”

Xundian is an important part of the Long March National Cultural Park (Yunnan section). The Red Army passed through here, leaving historical footprints. Nearby in Kedu Town’s Dangui Village, the Central Red Army Headquarters Site is preserved as a National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base and houses the Red Army Long March Memorial Museum.
