Lvzhi Town (绿汁镇) has a long history. In the first year of the Longqing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1567), it was under Xixiang (西乡). In the 19th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1764), it was part of Baoliang Township (保良乡). In the 10th year of the Republic of China (1921), it belonged to the Western District (西区). The name “Lvzhi” (绿汁) is derived from the Yi language “Luzila” (潞兹啦), meaning “a river with steep stone cliffs.”
