Yangzong Town (阳宗镇) is located in the northern part of Chengjiang City (澄江市), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省), at the northern foot of Liangwang Mountain (梁王山), the highest peak in central Yunnan. It is the northernmost area of Yuxi. To the east, it borders Caodian (草甸) in Yiliang County (宜良县), Kunming City (昆明市); to the south, it connects with Longjie Subdistrict (龙街街道) and Jiucun Town (九村镇); to the west, it is adjacent to Wujiaying (吴家营) and Qidian (七甸) in Chenggong District (呈贡区), Kunming City (昆明市); and to the north, it faces Yangzong Lake (阳宗海). The town government is located in the Yangzong Village Committee (阳宗村委会), 34 kilometers from Chengjiang City (澄江市) and 60 kilometers from Kunming City (昆明市).
Yangzong Town (阳宗镇) has a long history. It was formerly known as “Qiangzong” (强宗), which later evolved phonetically into “Yangzong” (阳宗). During the Han Dynasty, this area was part of Yuyuan County (俞元县) under eastern Yunnan. In the Nanzhao Kingdom during the Tang Dynasty, it was governed by Heyang Prefecture (河阳郡). In 937, during the Dali Kingdom, it was one of the 37 administrative divisions in eastern Yunnan, known as the “Qiangzong Division” (强宗部). In 1276, during the Yuan Dynasty, Chengjiang Road (澄江路) was established with Qiangzong County (强宗县) under its jurisdiction. In 1669, during the Qing Dynasty, Yangzong County (阳宗县) was abolished and merged into Heyang County (河阳县). During the Republic of China period, Yangzong belonged to the Fourth District of Chengjiang County (澄江县). Yangzong Town (阳宗镇) was officially established in January 1988.
Yangzong Town (阳宗镇) is known for its rich and diverse folk culture, with the most distinctive being Guansuo Opera (关索戏), a traditional form of Nuo opera. It is believed to have originated during the Three Kingdoms period and is performed to commemorate the general Guansuo (关索), who followed Zhuge Liang (诸葛亮) in his southern expeditions. Other local folk arts include Dongjing ancient music (洞经古乐), showcasing the unique cultural charm of the area.

Longjie Subdistrict (龙街街道) is located in the southwest of Chengjiang City (澄江市), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Yusuo Town (右所镇) and Fenglu Subdistrict (凤麓街道) to the east, Jiangcheng Town (江城镇) of Jiangchuan County (江川县) to the south, Chenggong District (呈贡区) and Jinning County (晋宁县) of Kunming City (昆明市) to the west, and Yangzong Town (阳宗镇) to the north. The subdistrict office is located in Longjie Community (龙街社区), about 3 kilometers from Chengjiang City (澄江市), covering a total area of 185.3 square kilometers.
The history of Longjie Subdistrict (龙街街道) dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, when it was part of Diancangli (点苍里). During the early years of the Republic of China, it was designated as the Third District, later renamed a township in 1919. In 1936, with the implementation of the Baojia system, it became Renyi Township (仁义乡). In March 1950, it was renamed Dianfu District (点抚区), and went through multiple administrative changes before becoming Longjie Commune (龙街公社) in 1958. It was changed to Longjie District (龙街区) in 1983, Longjie Town (龙街镇) in December 1987, and officially became Longjie Subdistrict (龙街街道) in April 2011.
Longjie Subdistrict (龙街街道) is rich in folk culture. The most distinctive is Guansuo Opera (关索戏), an ancient ritual drama believed to have originated during the Three Kingdoms period, performed in honor of the general Guansuo (关索) who accompanied Zhuge Liang (诸葛亮) on his southern expeditions. Other traditional art forms such as Dongjing Ancient Music (洞经古乐) also thrive here, showcasing the region’s unique cultural charm.

Luchong Scenic Area (禄充风景区)

Fenglu Subdistrict (凤麓街道) is located in the central-northern part of the Chengjiang Basin in Chengjiang City (澄江市), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). Its geographic coordinates are 102°55′E longitude and 24°40′N latitude. It borders Wufeng Mountain (舞凤山) to the north and is situated 5 kilometers south of Fuxian Lake (抚仙湖). It is adjacent to Yusuo Town (右所镇) in the east and Longjie Town (龙街镇) in the west. With a total area of approximately 8.8 square kilometers, it serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of Chengjiang City (澄江市).
The history of Fenglu Subdistrict (凤麓街道) can be traced back to the fifth year of the Longqing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1571). It derives its name from its location at the southern foot of Wufeng Mountain (舞凤山). During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it served as the seat of the local government. After the 1911 Revolution, prefectures were abolished and converted to counties, and Fenglu Town (凤麓镇) became District One of Chengjiang County (澄江县). During the Republic of China period, the town’s administrative divisions changed multiple times. In 1945, it was renamed Fenglu Town (凤麓镇). The original name was restored in 1983, and in March 2011, the town was converted into a subdistrict.
Fenglu Subdistrict (凤麓街道) is a culturally diverse area, with the Han ethnic group making up the majority and ethnic minorities being relatively few. The area is rich in traditional folk customs that reflect its deep cultural heritage. Local ancient buildings such as Jile Temple (极乐寺), Dongyue Temple (东岳庙), and Wenchang Palace (文昌宫) have withstood the test of time and still retain historical charm.
Fenglu Subdistrict (凤麓街道) lies in a subtropical low-latitude plateau monsoon climate zone, enjoying a “spring-like” climate all year round. The average annual temperature is 15.3°C, with an annual rainfall of approximately 1,215 mm. The frost-free period lasts about 268 days, and the area enjoys abundant sunshine. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn seasons when the climate is mild and the natural scenery is most beautiful.

Located in Yifeng Community (仪凤社区), this park includes the Tomb of Luo Peijin (罗佩金墓), a significant historical and cultural site in Chengjiang City (澄江市).

Xiongguan Township (雄关乡) is located in the eastern part of Jiangchuan District (江川区), Yuxi City (玉溪市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Huaning County (华宁县) to the east, Tonghai County (通海县) to the south, Dajie Subdistrict (大街街道) to the west, and Lujü Town (路居镇) to the north. The township government is located in Xiongguan Village (雄关村), about 12 kilometers from Jiangchuan’s downtown area. The Jianghua Expressway (江华高等级公路) passes through the township, and the Dianxiong Cement Road (甸雄水泥公路) runs north-south through it.
Xiongguan Township (雄关乡) has a long history. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the area belonged to Lujü Township (路居乡) of Ningzhou (宁州), present-day Huaning County (华宁县). In 1912, it became part of the Xiongguan Bao (雄关保) under Lujü Township (路居乡). In September 1950, it was part of the third district of Huaning County. In January 1956, Xiongguan and surrounding areas were reassigned to Jiangchuan County (江川县). In 1966, Xiongguan People’s Commune (雄关公社) was established. It was renamed Xiongguan District (雄关区) in December 1983 and finally became Xiongguan Township (雄关乡) in 1987. The name originates from its former name Dianjuguan (甸苴关), also known locally as Diansuo Dam (甸所坝), a strategic mountain pass on the eastern slope of Laojian Mountain (老尖山).
Xiongguan Township (雄关乡) is a mountainous area inhabited by several ethnic minorities including the Yi (彝族), Hani (哈尼族), and Dai (傣族) peoples, who make up 5.8% of the population. Local folk culture is rich and vibrant, with traditional festivals such as the Yi Torch Festival (火把节) showcasing unique ethnic customs and heritage.
Xiongguan Township (雄关乡) has a subtropical plateau monsoon climate, characterized by mild winters, cool summers, and distinct dry and wet seasons. The average annual temperature is 13.9°C, with January averaging 6°C and July around 21°C.
