Banqiao, A Town On The South Silk Road Situated in Longyang District of Baoshan Municipality, Banqiao used to be an important town on the South Silk Road. It has many a place of interest such as Qinglong Street, Longwangtang Park, Reclining Buddha Temple, Beiyue Lake (Reservoir), Xizhuang Temple and Guangzun Temple etc.
(1): Guangzun Temple is the biggest religious architecture complex in Baoshan. As a place where one can experience three kinds of religions (Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism), it was listed in 2003 among key protected cultural relics in Yunnan.
(2): Xizhuang Temple, referred to as Zhubajie Temple by locals, is the unique temple in China to enshrine Zubajie (Zhubajie-the Pig in Pilgrimage to West Paradise-was once a general in the heaven but was degraded and incarnated into a Pig due to his obscenity to Ms. Chang’e-the Moon Beauty).
