Geographic Location
Daping Village is located in Zhuanjiao Township (篆角乡), Guangnan County (广南县), Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province (云南省文山州广南县). It is about 4.5 kilometers from the township government and approximately 73 kilometers from the city of Guangnan (广南县). Zhuanjiao Township lies in the southern part of Guangnan County, bordered by Heizhiguo Township (黑支果乡) to the east, Malipo County (麻栗坡县) and Majie Township (马街乡) to the south, Xichou County (西畴县) Jijie Township (鸡街乡) to the south, and Na Sa Town (那洒镇) to the west, with Zhujie Town (珠街镇) to the north.
Cultural and Historical Background
Before the liberation, Daping Village was part of the jurisdiction of Suijing Township (绥靖乡). In 1950, it was incorporated into the Na Sa District (那洒区). During the period of collectivization in 1958, it was part of the Chongtian Commune (冲天公社) Amiao Management Area (阿渺管理区). In 1961, Daping Brigade (大坪大队) was established, and in 1984 it was renamed Daping Township (大坪乡). In 1988, after the area was reorganized, it was re-established as a commune. In March 2000, Daping Village was converted into a village committee and has retained this status until today.
