Luliang Overseas Chinese Farm in Luliang County, Qujing
Historical Background
Established in October 1954, Lüliang Overseas Chinese Farm(曲靖市陆良华侨农场) is situated in the central part of Ba District, Lüliang County. It serves as one of the national bases for resettling returning overseas Chinese and refugees. It is also the sole state-owned overseas Chinese farm in Qujing City. Since the 1960s, it has resettled over 3,900 returning overseas Chinese and refugees from countries such as Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Currently, it continues to host returnees from five different countries, with connections extending to more than 20 countries and regions including Hong Kong, Macao, the United States, Germany, and Australia, carrying a certain level of international influence.
Administrative and Geographical Information
- Establishment and Development:
- In 2000, following the spirit of the “Notice of the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government on Promoting Comprehensive Economic System Reform of Overseas Chinese Farms (Forests)” (Yun Zheng Fa [2000] No. 211), Lüliang Overseas Chinese Farm was categorized as a county-owned agricultural enterprise under county management. The farm’s responsibilities including running schools, hospitals, and maintaining social order were transferred to county functional departments.
- On March 13, 2009, the county committee and government held an inaugural ceremony for the establishment of the Lüliang Overseas Chinese Management Committee at Lüliang Overseas Chinese Farm.
