Jinba Overseas Chinese Farm in Funing County, Wenshan

History and Background

Jinba Overseas Chinese Forest Farm(文山市富宁县金坝华侨农场) was established in 1978 primarily to resettle returning overseas Chinese from Vietnam. In 1988, the forest farm was transferred from the Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office to the management of Funing County Government.

Location and Structure

The forest farm is located in the northeast of Funing County and is divided into 11 forest management areas, spread across five townships: Zhesang, Dongbo, Gula, and Guichao. The farm covers a total management area of 150,000 acres, with 130,000 acres of forested land. The total population of the farm is 1,519 people, including 545 returned overseas Chinese and 693 family members.

Geography and Climate

Jinba Overseas Chinese Forest Farm benefits from its strategic location with National Highway 323 and the Hengkun Expressway passing through it. It is 70 kilometers from Funing County seat and 100 kilometers from Baise City in Guangxi. The farm lies in a South Asian tropical monsoon climate zone, featuring numerous rivers and abundant water resources, which are highly favorable for the growth of forest trees.

Economic and Environmental Development

In September 1999, the farm successfully introduced fast-growing eucalyptus and acacia species from the Guangxi Forestry Department. This introduction has significantly increased both the economic and environmental benefits of the forest farm.
